The laboratory section of every science class is the portion I believe I have gained the most knowledge and experience from. I look forward to spending time using the microscopes and equipment to increase my understanding of the detailed world of microorganisms.
Both my general biology and microbiology professors provided me with a solid fundamental understanding of the organisms that have successfully captured and maintained my attention. As a result of my dedication in the classes of these two professors, both offered me a position as a laboratory assistant for the following semesters in each class. During my time as an academic laboratory assistant, I gained a deeper understanding of the information I had learned the previous semester as a student.
As my desire to spend more time in the lab increased, I was offered the opportunity to participate in a five-month internship at Henkel Laboratories by a valued professor who admired my work as his assistant. I spent my time reverse engineering several products using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry and High-performance liquid chromatography. I also learned how to accurately document the findings of my personal research to present to my
