Selma Movie Review The movie Selma is about a civil rights leader and his journey to fight for the freedom of his people. It was the dream of this man to put an end to the mistreatment of blacks in the
United States. The African Americans fought for their freedom in south of the United States.
These people were facing racism and mistreatment from the whites during this time period.
Although in the north of the United States, people had no problem associating with blacks.
Throughout the film it showed the protest that had taken place in the late 1960s. My opinion of the film was that appeared to me that the creator of it wanted to get a point across. The point …show more content…
The evidence from the movie to support my opinion is when the people were crossing the bridge from Selma to Montgomery. When the blacks got to the end of the bridge the white policemen were waiting for them. They told them that if they did not head back, they would force violence on them. The policemen began a countdown. They did not move and they just stood there for their own rights. Then the policeman threw gas onto the entire group of blacks and began to hit them with several weapons. When this occurred, the blacks did not fight back physically. This supports my thinking because it is an example of the
African Americans using peace instead of violence. Another piece of evidence to support my thinking from the movie “Selma”, was when the African Americans were crossing the Edmund
Pettus Bridge. They had difficulty at end, where white police men were blocking it off. For the third time when they were crossing the bridge, Dr.King had convinced the President to send the National Guard.
