Selma Poem Analysis
Hope your weekend was a good one. Watched Selma, it was slow in spots but otherwise pretty good. Picture this, an old white man writing a poem about Selma and it's really not bad.

Any way I have a professional question for you. I'm scheduled to see the primary physician every 6 months but it turns out to be every 8 months or so, last visit mid-January. There are a few meds that should be renewed before August.

Finally, the question, should I wait till I see Hardevi or go ahead and order the meds. I may run out or not depending on when the appointment is. The major one is PRAVASTATIN NA 80MG TAB, the others would be DOCUSATE NA 50MG/SENNOSIDES 8.6MG TAB and OMEPRAZOLE 20MG EC CAP those two in July. For some reason I have a good amount

‘The Waking’ is a contemporary jazz piece written by American vocalist, Kurt Elling, and features Theodore Roethke’s 1954 poem of the same title. Released in 2007 on the album Nightmoves, Elling uses musical techniques to enhance the message of Roethke’s poem. Poetry: Poem Analysis

The works we studied within Creative Writing were all helpful in creating my own works to submit to the class. Throughout all of the reading, many of the works inspired me in different ways, whether it was short story plot ideas or word usage in the poems. While crafting my work for the final portfolio, I reviewed many of the poems from our poetry packet in an effort to find inspiration and to create new interesting images. I took the most inspiration for my formal poem, which I found most difficult to write. One of the poems that was most useful to me was Jilly Dybka’s “Memphis, 1976.” Dybka’s poem follows the sestina form; I also wrote my last poem in this form, so it helped to follow the form by looking at her poem as an example. Dybka’s…

The message of the poem, “Sadie and Maud”, is that the success and happiness is not determined by a structured path, but the one we create. In the poem it says “Maud went to college/Sadie stayed home/Sadie scraped life/With a fine-tooth comb/She didn’t leave a tangle in” (Lines 1-4). This is saying that Maud went to college and Sadie did not go to college. It is also significant because it compares Sadie with a fine-tooth comb because fine-tooth combs take everything in and does not leave a tangles which is basically stating that she lived life to its full potential and took risks. In the fourth stanza it says. “When Sadie said her last so-long/Her girls struck out from home/Sadie has left as heritage”. Here the reader sees that Sadie has passed…

Edward Estlin Cummings, more commonly known as E.E. Cummings, was an American and one of the most popular poets of the 20th Century. However, he was not only a poet; he was a playwright, painter, essayist, and an author. Nevertheless, he was more renowned for his romantic themed poetry, which dealt with the themes of love and nature. As a poet, E.E. Cummings liked to go against the norm and play with syntax and sentence structure. Conversely, this made it hard for some readers to understand his work because many of his poems did not act in agreement with the conventional combinatorial rules that produce typical English. In, E.E. Cummings poem “I thank you God for most this amazing (65) MC,” he uses Christianity symbolism,…

What does it take for a man to find his self-worth and what happens when he achieves it? Self-worth is defined as the sense of one’s own value or worth as a person. The “Fisherman” written by Kurt Brown is a direct metaphor of life and all the successes and failures that may come about. Browns story of a fisherman is a true testament of a man spending his days searching for a greater sense of self-worth.…

The Hippy era was a time in United States history when massive changes were made. Boundaries were challenged and crossed in literature and art, the government was confronted head-on for its policies in Vietnam; and the cause of civil rights was embraced by the young. This was a time of growth not only as a country but for people as individuals. People were standing up for their personal right to do what they felt they wanted to do. This was a time of change for the civil rights movement and women's movement. The two poems that I have chose center on the civil rights movement during the 1960's and how it affected people.…

Human fate, whether predetermined or not, has always been a subject of great debate. Numerous inconclusive arguments have erupted from scientific as well as religious perspectives as to whether or not destiny is controlled by an outside force. Author William Ernest Henley’s poem “Invictus” is frequently regarded as an eye opening piece of literature that has imitated and facilitated the self reinvention of countless lives. Challenging Christian ideals, Henley elicits a powerful emotional response by supporting the philosophy that man is the sole determinant of his fate. By presenting such a bold and controversial belief, Henley greatly increases the impact of his poem. He titled the poem “Invictus,” Latin for unbeaten, in order to show that although his spirits were low and mind deterred, they still remained unconquered, demonstrating the retention of control he had over his destiny [Invictus (Meaning of)].…
