When I look a handgun to purchase, the first question I have to ask is what to buy a revolver or a semi-automatic handgun. You see they both have the same outcome as they both will lay lead down in a hurry. So as I had done my research on what type of handgun to purchase, I looked at the history of what works for law enforcement as we carry handguns on a daily basis. I looked back on the Tennessee Highway Patrol and what we carried for years and found that we carried a .357 caliber revolver for years, until the semi-automatic was purchased. I have carried and been issued two different types of handguns since joining the department, both were semi-automatics. With a semi-automatic there are several pros to having this type of handgun versus a revolver. With the semi-automatic you will have the option to have nine to fifteen rounds available, depending on the size of your magazine. Semi-automatic handguns are generally more difficult to load than revolvers, this requires more hand and muscle power (Elpusan Jr.). A semi-automatic handgun also requires the extreme use of your fingertips to unload rounds as it is the opposite of loading one and this can be very discomforting on your fingers. The weight of a semi-automatic handgun is generally heavier than that of the revolver. When it comes to reliability of the semi-automatic, they are or can be very reliable, but it takes work to keep it in working order as you much keep it clean and oiled properly for proper functionality.
When it comes to the loading of a revolver handgun it is fairly simple in nature. There is a small button that you will slide forward and then the actual revolver will slide out exposing the empty
