One of the competencies that a Senior Warrant Officer must possess is Leads. The ability to influence others within and out of your organization is an integral role of the development of any leader. Through my career I have endeavored myself to “lead by example” for any task or job that I have been engaged in. When I joined the Warrant Officer Cohort and became the supervisor of the Puerto Rico Army National Guard PRARNG Supply Support Activity (SSA), I saw myself more than once out on the floor with my employees in order to accomplish the mission. Those actions along with my other traits as a leader enabled me to earn the respect of my subordinates and when the time came for me to ask them to go the extra mile they did not hesitate to follow me to get the mission accomplished. This also ties in to the need as a leader to extend you influence on to others outside your organization. During your career you will interact with persons outside your organization and a lot of times they will ask for your assistance and at that moment you can take the opportunity to provide them with the assistance they need and create a working relationship with those individuals. The day will come that those individuals can assist you in getting your mission accomplished. So building a good rapport and working relationship with others can go long ways in to extending that influence outside your
