I love the phrase “sense of humor” because it can have several meanings to it. The book definition is “the trait of appreciating (and being able to express) the humorous”. Which I believe is correct. This term is so fun because everyone has their own definition of humor and sense of humor. I believe I have a great sense of humor. I am someone who can find something funny in every situation. I can take a joke, and I can understand jokes pretty easily. However, this is not the case for everyone. Most of my friends have the same sense of humor. This is probably one of the main reasons we all get along so well. The only difference between me and them is that I can make a witty joke and none of them will catch it. I also find a lot of situations hilarious when it is just “stupid” to them. My definition for the phrase “sense of humor” is probably unique. I believe a sense of humor is being able to accept any joke and finding the humor in every situation. This is probably a lot harder to do for someone other than me. However, I do find my special ability to be unique and amazing! I also believe a sense of humor is being able to take a joke that may offend you. You must be able to laugh at yourself if you are going to laugh at others! Every day as I walk around and talk to people, I notice that a lot of people exclude humor in their life. This probably means that their definition for “sense of humor” is a lot different from mine. I do not understand how someone can go every day without laughing or seeing the beauty of humor is everything. Being humorous is an art. A sense of humor is not a trait, but a gift. I look at my sense of humor as a good thing even though others might hate me for being annoying, but it is only annoying because they do not understand the humor.
