Born in a seaside resort you could count yourself as quite lucky, I do. Bournemouth is a beautiful seaside town with so much to do and has been a huge tourist attraction since the very first short wooden jetty pier was completed in 1856. Bournemouth contrasts hugely to those scruffy little towns with nothing but dirty alleyways. Right on the Jurassic coast, Bournemouth beach is one of the most popular seaside tourist destinations. Every summer there is a massive air festival; this is when Bournemouth beach is packed providing the weather is nice. Whenever the weather is nice the beach is full up and there is a really happy, excited atmosphere, everyone is full up will positive emotion. It’s interesting how different places can cause different emotions and moods. There are countless activities to get involved with such as the BIC (Bournemouth International Centre), which has many different shows, concerts and skating events, the aquarium, which is especially interesting for children and the traditional Bournemouth Gardens, where there are live bands, mini-golf, hot air balloon rides and just a place to sit, relax and socialise. Bournemouth boasts the Triangle, the centre of the gay community, which is full of pubs, clubs and bars and there are conveniently located restaurants right on the promenade such as West Beach which is where I work. I really enjoy working right on the beach, looking out to the beautiful landscape every weekend with a calm sea. It makes me feel relaxed and happy, well that is of course if I don’t have a huge queue of people demanding the traditional Mr Whippy ice cream! When I am not working and just enjoying the beach, I love the gentle breeze, the smell of fresh sea water, the touch of soft sand, the sound of the waves crashing and rolling, the feeling of sand sink between my toes. The beach is such a lovely quiet place to be on a warm summer evening, the perfect place to sit, relax, think and enjoy the beautiful
