Liberal Christians recognize that the writers of the Bible held a variety of beliefs concerning Heaven and Hell. The earliest books of the Bible described an underground cavern where all people, good and bad, spent eternity after death. The later books described Hell as either a place of annihilation or of eternal punishment. Generally speaking, this system of beliefs looks upon Hell as a concept, not as a place of punishment. The idea that a person would suffer eternal punishment for a single oversight, error or sin during life is seen as unjust. Punishment of an individual because she/he had never heard the Gospel is also viewed as irrational and unjust. They feel that a loving God would be incapable of creating such a place.…
Initially a Deaf child’s journey begins with family and starts at birth but it’s not till the deafness is detected that important decisions start to be made. Interactions with the child are important as are the ways the child is interacted with. Choices have to be made by the family that will result in how a child is educated and socialized. These most important family influences can greatly help in positive development of the child or the lack of it. Some decisions that have substantial impact are: How will the child be educated? The choice between institutional and hearing schools. Should we opt for cochlear implants? These are just a couple many important decisions and choices that are made by the parents or caregivers.…

There is a lack of awareness of the needs of people with dual sensory loss among the general public, but also within the medical profession and among public service providers. There appears to be no primary method of communication for deafblind people. Therefore services need to be tailored to the communication need of the individual.…
If I was blind, I know I would miss the joy of seeing the words while reading, the beautiful sunsets, my husband’s smile, and the constellations when camping. If I was without my hearing, I would miss out on music, which touches my heart and gives me bliss. I would miss the sense of smell the least, only because it is sensitive right now and can trigger a migraine; sadly, it would cause my taste to be affected. Many cultures see the loss of senses as handicaps that lessen a person. If I was without all external stimulation, it would be a very closed off world for me, especially if I lost my senses as an adult, but I don’t think it would make me less of a person.…

The paper will discuss sensory perception that asks the question can you really trust your senses and the interpretation of sensory data to give you an accurate view of the world. What are the accuracy and the weaknesses of the human senses as they pertain to thinking in general and to your own thinking in particular?…
95% of what we learn about the world around us comes from our sight and our hearing. We talk to each other, we read and we listen. Much of what we hear and see we take for granted but it is important as it lets us know what is going on around us such as tyres on a road, people chatting, rain on the windows, peoples facial expressions and body language. We can go outside and move freely and our senses help us to interpret when danger is near without us really having to think much. Most people…

The five senses are an important area for students to learn about because it is a topic and an area that affects all of us. “A learning strategy is a series of steps that can be repeated over and over to solve a problem or to complete a task” (Echevarria). This will be a weeklong lesson plan over the five senses using different learning strategies for the students to use in order to receive and understand as much information as possible. Students will learn one sense a day. “Aristotle (384 BC - 322 BC) is credited with the traditional classification of the five sense organs: sight, smell, taste, touch, and hearing” (Scientificpsychic.com). “Our senses are the physical means by which all living things see, hear, smell, taste, and touch” (Thinkquest.org). This will be a second grade lesson plan. Students will use adequate social communication and advanced conversational skills. Since this is not the most difficult lesson plan, and it will be going into detail, the type of program used will be Sheltered Instruction, because little things like our senses, will benefit them greatly when their native language is used at minimum, and only for clarification. The stages of learning for these students are at intermediate, and at this stage students begin to tailor their English language skills to participate more in classroom activities (Echevarria, 15). Even though it does prove difficult to EL’s, the learning theory that will be used is Cognitive Learning Theory. “Most cognitive theorists do not try to explain all learning through a single theory but instead share a generally agreed upon philosophical orientation. Generally, cognitive psychologists believe that people are active learners who initiate experiences, seek out information to solve problems, and reorganize what they already know to achieve new insights” (Echevarria, 41). Some of the errors that may occur in the classroom are, students falling behind because of the language barrier, students not…
Sensing has been the foundation for our lives since before birth. It is a safe assumption that sensing shapes the world around us and helps us to synthesize information. The unique thing about sensing is that no two people will have identical thoughts or perceptions; hence, the innumerous possibilities of sensory output. Although the senses are the foundation of our beings, there are instances when we must question the accuracy/inaccuracy of sensory information. Below I will attempt to explain the instances when sensory information can be deceptive and/or receptive.…

What do I mean by senses? Humans are known to have five senses; sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing. These senses have their own specific uses, and some appear to be more reliable than others. In fact, the only way that we get an understanding of the world is through our senses. Imagine someone who does not possess any of these senses, it is not possible that they can ever have access to knowledge. In the case of truth, what do I mean by it? This comes with different points of view. There are also different kinds of truths such as religious truths and scientific truths. Certain truths make more use of the senses than others, for example, in the case of religion, one does not necessarily have to see something in order to belief it, it’s grounded on faith than anything else. In scientific truths, however, the reliability of the senses is tremendous, without their uses, we could never have known the truths we do in science. The whole notion of truth varies from culture to culture as well. The way in which we perceive this truth is also open to interpretations which are due to the idea of relativism.…
