Being a licensed esthetician requires more hands-on work as opposed to being a retail associate. Some job skills and responsibilities a licensed esthetician would have are skin care procedures, makeup artistry, medical procedures to refer clients to medical attention for treatment of serious skin care issues, and business skills and responsibilities.
To become an esthetician specialized training at an esthetician school, or a cosmetology school with skin care specialist training programs is required. Training to become an esthetician takes an average of 600 hours in most states; although some states require as many as 1,000 hours and some require as few as 250 hours. Esthetician salaries average $28,640 per year, but salaries depend on a number of factors. Salaries always have the potential to grow with experience, growing clientele, and an increase on working hours. Many estheticians decide to work part time instead of full
