Even though I had my topic, I didn’t know how to start thus my first draft seem weak and unorganized. My meeting with Mr. Harman cleared away my doubts as he encourage me to write without limits on my wording or phrasing. Sequence 1 taught me that every writer will stumble upon many obstacles. After reading the article “The Composing Processes of Unskilled College Writers” by Sondra Perl I have been forced to understand how writers write. The writing process is a situation that is approached from various angles. In the writing process techniques and sequences from person to person are often diverse, but it is one of the ways one may be expressed. The goal of Perl study was to “see how unskilled writers write, can their writing process be analyzed in a systematic, replicable manner, and what does an increased understanding of their process suggest about nature of composing in general and the manner in which writing is taught in schools.” (191) With Perl performing this observation and collecting several amounts of data I decided to perform an observation on my writing by paying close attention to how I write. With analyzing I realized that my writing process have a very sequential pattern. I also have noticed that many acts of critical planning and editing are carried out through many of my writings and it has had a negative effect on the majority of my writing masterpieces. Subsequent to carefully critiquing my writing I have realized that all individuals have a different way they write.…

For example, while I watched the 2006 Champion League Final between Arsenal Football Club of England and “Futbol Club Barcelona” of Spain, the Arsenal goalkeeper (Jens Lehmann) was sent of the pitch for fouling a Barcelona player (Samuel Etoo) at the 19th minute, hence it became a game of 11 men against 10 men for the remaining 71 minutes. Replays showed that Etoo had deliberately fallen over after a minimal contact with Lehmann; he had cheated Arsenal and deceived the referee into sending an opposing player off the pitch. Unfortunately, instant replays weren’t allowed, referee’s decisions are final. Instances like this could easily be prevented with instant replays- where a team can request the incident be…

David Beckham is one of the most famous soccer players in the world, not only because of his expertise and performances on the field, but for his personality and involvement in advertisements as well. In fact, he is among the highest paid athletes on the planet mainly due to sponsorships. The definition of “brand” could be: A trademark or a distinctive name identifying the product or the manufacturer of the product. Nevertheless, if brands are not in the products they occupy people’s minds. Moreover, brands engage in loyalty based on emotional ties and consumer commitment (Kapfener 11). The distinctive case study of David Beckham explicates how a celebrity became a well-known brand through self-motivation and corporate support. In this essay I will examine the “Beckham brand” and how this brand was created in the first place. Through world-class soccer accomplishments and multiple off-field personas, Beckham has not just become a brand but a portfolio of brands powered by athletic proficiency, strong character and physical appearance. His increased popularity and “iconic image” add a significant brand value and consideration to “the various companies he is a spokesman for and the multitude of different products and services that he endorses (The Multiple Brand Personalities of David Beckham).” The reputation he developed in the marketing industry throughout the years, made him a “target” for every marketing company. He is no longer the man named David Beckham, he is a brand onto a man named David Beckham who embodies the essence of an excellent athlete. His brand, implicitly exceeds reality.…

As a student coming fresh out of high school I am still used to writing as I have been taught since I was in middle school. We were taught to outline, make a first draft, have someone read that draft, revise and then hand in the final copy. This is a long and boring process that has not changed and is always so repetitive. We always had to write five paragraph papers about things that would never be relevant to my future. In this class I hope to change my approach and how I feel about writing.…
