Serial Killer: The Theories Of Ted Bundy

Serial killer , “a person who commits a series of murders, often with no apparent motive and typically following a characteristic, predictable behavior pattern”. This is the definition of a serial killer. In our history there has been multiple serial killers, you could even say way too many. Ted Bundy was born on November 24, 1946 in Burlington, Vermont. When born his mother Eleanor Cowell kept him hidden as an illegitimate child. Eleanor was an unmarried twenty two year old. She delivered his to her very religious parents. Then, when he was a little bit older she moved him to Washington where she married Johnie Bundy and had several kids. Growing up, Bundy was raised in a working class family. At the age of 3, Ted became fascinated by knives.
For example, the strain theory is when you have emotions like anger and frustration. These emotions causes for people to to crime. When Ted was in college he dated a girl who he really liked. His breakup with the girl really affected him that his devastation about who break up could be the reason in why he did what he did. Maybe because his relationship was not the best that caused him to do rape on the other girl. Since he was know as a charming young boy, maybe did not like what he did. I mentioned in how ted used to rape before beating the girls to death. Beating the girls to death could be a ways so that people wouldn't find out about the rape and he wouldn't have to deal with the guilt. Another theory that relates to Ted’s actions is the Psychological theory which includes personality disorder. These personality disorders can really explain why he would feel the need to commit these crimes. Not only does these theories and disorders explain what he feel but how the victims felt. A victim could be going through a paranoid disorder that perhaps was caused by Ted. Ted would kidnap people and rape them. These episodic events could cause the victim trauma and paranoid disorder within other people. Schizoid personality disorder can be the reason for the break up. This type of disorder effects relationship among with other. Ted Bundy’s action could of caused the reason for his break up. Last but not least the third personality disorder that could relate to this case is called schizotypal personality disorder which has to deal with odd behavior. His unusual interest in knives as a young kid is an example of a schizotypal personality
