Theme: “A Celebration of Unity”
Text: Psalm 133: 1-3
Intro:
Let’s start our first sermon with the template of celebration; a very optimistic outlook of our series of studies that will focus primarily on the Truth about the church. This is a sermon of celebration, celebration because it is rare occurrence that a two independent ministry will merge into one. Also, it is celebration because our text speaks about the dwelling together in unity of the brethren as good and pleasant to behold. Unity here is not uniformity – true Christian unity is unity amidst diversity.
The experience of captivity of Israel and their scattering abroad as punishment of Yahweh because of their sins produced in them the true longing to return to Jerusalem and dwell together with their brethren.
What are the fundamental reasons why the author speaks of so high commendation as he behold the dwelling together of the brethren in Unity? From our text we can deduce some fundamental reasons why it is so pleasant and good to behold the dwelling together of the brethren in unity. First… because…
