Thank you for your post. I agree with you that servant leadership plays a vital role in being a nurse leader. According to Greenleaf, Senge, Covey, & Spears (2002), the principles of servant leadership include compassion, honesty, empathy, and serving others. As a nursing leader, I believe that the qualities of servant leadership are essential to the success of not only the department but of the organization.
