These educative programs need to be implemented in the school system. Each semester, there should be one required sex education assembly to make kids aware of the consequences of unsafe sex and the difficulty of unplanned pregnancy. They would be educated on how girls get pregnant, what happens to the girl’s body during and after pregnancy, and the risks that pregnancy may entail such as STD’s, HIV and AIDS. They would also need to be educated on estimated costs of having a baby and the amount of time required when taking responsibility of having a child. Then, if the youth are…
Sex instruction is critical, however numerous amounts of students complete sex education classes with a mutilated perspective of sexuality and without a decent comprehension of contraception and safe-sex practices. Schools without sex education, leave children confused and often misguided. Students are left to learn through their parents about sex, who could, in turn, be misinformed themselves by never having taken a course in sexual education. Without sexual education classes, little is accomplished leaving a defective and contorted, one-sided point of view of safe sex such as abstinence. The lack of knowledge also can lead to an increase in teen pregnancy, and the spread of sexually transmitted disease, Sexual education should be taught to…
Effective sex and relationship education is essential if young people are to make responsible and well informed decisions about their lives…
Sex education in public schools has been a controversial topic for many years and for many reasons. People believe differently on what should or should not be taught based on their own beliefs or their religious beliefs. According to a new poll by National Public Radio, the Kaiser family foundation, and Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, has found that all Americans but about 7% say sex education should be taught in schools. There are different methods of sex education today. The three popular methods are abstinence, abstinence-plus, and responsible decisions. A long with these methods come consequences of not having sex education and with having it. Should sex educations be allowed in public schools? Yes, it should be. The NPR/Kaiser/ Kennedy School agrees with Brigid McKeon and SunHearald.com that sex education should be allowed in schools.…
“We dreaded teenage hormones because now you put peer pressure into the mix.” (Tracey Black) Young adults fall under pressure every day, unable to make the decision on whether to have sex or not. They think back to what their parents taught them about decision making, and try to differentiate what is beneficial for them and what is not. Minimal students are educated about sex and having proper decision making skills. Even fewer students avoid sexual activity; and if they are sexually active, take the proper safety precautions. Sex education should be increased to curb problems such as teenage pregnancy, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs), and unhealthy relationships between children and their parents during adolescence.…
Solomon Asch’s classic study on conformity. highlights the importance of the study in the field of psychology, ask if one gender tends to conform over another, explain the reasons why people conform to social norms and discuss the factors affecting conformity. Have you ever wondered why groups of teenagers dress and wear their hair so similarly? Or why people order the same dish as their partner at a restaurant? Or why people queue in an orderly fashion at the supermarket?…
A big topic in today's society is whether or not a child should have sex education in school. Almost everyday you hear about how the numbers of teens having sex and the rates of teenage pregnancy is skyrocketing. Can this somehow be prevented by encouraging that sex education be included in the curriculum in school? Don't we send our children to school to learn and get an education? Than why should schools not educate our children about sex and help stress that abstinence is best? Sex education is not helping to promote that a child go out and engage in sexual activity, it merely educates them on the consequences of having sex and makes them aware of ways to protect themselves if they do choose to engage in sexual activity. It is important to educate our children on sex and how to protect themselves.…
Sex Education, should it be taught in schools? Many debates have been argued over this subject. Some may say that sex education teaches students about how sexual intercourse is done, thus destroying the mortality of people. Although mortality is lowered by sex education, it should be taught in both secondary and primary schools because it gives children and young adults the idea of what is right and wrong, teaches about sex outside of marriage and sexual diseases, and is more effective than abstinence classes.…
Sex education is a class that provides students an opportunity to ask questions and obtain true facts, without the embarrassment of confronting their own parents. Whereas the public only flaunts the good side of sex, sex education exposes the risks…

Advocates of comprehensive sex education claim that young people need realistic information about how to protect themselves from pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases and that it is unrealistic to believe that all teens will abstain from sex until marriage. Meanwhile, protesters of comprehensive sex education claim that teaching students how to practice safe sex will only encourage sexual activity at a young age. People feel that there are many strengths and weaknesses about comprehensive sex education as well. A perceived strength is that students learn how to practice safe sex and with that knowledge know how to make better decisions. Another strength of comprehensive sex education is that providing information on contraception options reduces the spread of sexually transmitted diseases among young people (Dolbeck). This means that students seem to practice activities with more caution when provided with accurate information. The people that oppose of comprehensive sex education argue that it only encourages young people to engage in sexual activity (Helmick). Also, many people believe that parents are a barrier to children learning sex education. However, in Parents' Attitudes Toward Comprehensive and Inclusive Sexuality Education, the authors suggest that parents “were uncertain about what form of sexuality…
The school sex education curriculum gives the cold hard facts and nothing is left out. Sexually transmitted diseases are discussed in detail about how they are contracted, how they can affect your life and how to prevent getting them. Every contraceptive is shown, what it prevents and how to use them.Since almost all of the kids learning about sex education are under legal age, the legalities of sex under age are taught to educate kids about the trouble that can come from illegal sex. They discuss every bad thing that can come from choosing to participate in sexually activities. If the responsibility is left in the parents hand to educate kids about the issue of sex education, then they may not get everything they need to know.…
You might wonder, what are the concerns about animal testing exactly? Or, is there really anything bright about animal testing? Well that’s exactly what I am here to talk about. Animal testing is the most common way to test products to see if they are qualified for us humans to use. Throughout the tests the animals are kept in captivity, some tests show products not stable enough for humans, some tests are for fun, and the animals go through months of torture.…
While in high school sex education is not really a big topic, many teens are affected negatively by the lack of knowledge. According to Roland Martin of CNN, “Whether its safe sex practice or even abstinence, all of these issues must be dealt with in an educational setting, because when you look at the pregnancy rate, sexual transmitted diseases, including HIV/ AIDS, it only makes sense to have as much education as possible.” This quote explains that with the high rates or pregnancy, STD's including HIV/ AIDS there should not be a reason why teenagers in high school are not educated about this topic in a proper environment and well aware of what can happen if you do not take good precaution with sex. Sex education in high school in needed because as teenagers we become more exposed to sex through thing such as music videos. If high school students are going to take it to the next level as teenagers, should know things like ; how to use a condom and how to use different types of contraception such as birth control. Preventing sexually transmitted diseases is also another reason why there can be serious consequences if not protected but knowing there is ways to prevent these consequences as well. Pregnancy is also another reason why high school teenage students should be more educated about sex, they should be educated about abortion or if high school teenage girls do get pregnant how having a baby could affect there life.…
Like Claire’s high school, most schools only teach a short sex education unit with a focus on abstinence in their health class, so students are only being taught very briefly about sex and diseases. However, they need to be in a comprehensive sex education class. This way they can learn about their body’s health and about being sexually active so when they do decide to be sexually active, whether they wait till marriage or not, they will be prepared. Comprehensive sex education is more effective than abstinence-only because it teaches a broader and more in depth view about health and sex, it does not infringe upon human rights, and it teaches students about the consequences and struggles of being sexually active.…
