Sex Trafficking Research Paper
Sex trafficking is a multi- billion-dollar business. Ten hundred thousand people are trafficked each year between state boundaries, and across oceans. I was so surprised and angry while watching the movie. I could not believe how easy it is to kidnap women by promising them a better future and then selling them as sex slaves. They are trying to create a better future for themselves and their families but instead they are raped and beaten repeatedly. There are laws in every country about not kidnapping people and forcing them to commit acts against their will but every few countries strictly enforce the law. It was mentioned multiple times in the movie that the sex trafficking has gotten worse in eastern Europe and Turkey after the Berlin

One of the police officer told victim’s family that, “didn’t she know what she was going for, we do not deal with prostitutes.” This is part of the problem with rape culture. Victims are blamed for being victimized. It was because of what she was wearing, she was at the wrong place at wrong time, why was she alone, why did she go out with a stranger, why this why that. We blame the victim, not the perpetrator. When the girls are caught in the sex-trafficking ring, they are deported. They are re-victimized. They are treated as illegal immigrants with no rights protecting them. They are not provided any witness protection due to that very few victims testify. Many of them contracted HIV, AID’s, or other STI’s. Some might be able to treat their sexual disorders. And others never get over the emotional trauma that they have to deal with. They were kidnaped by someone they knew and took advantage of their financial situation. Then they are beaten, raped, and sold like a piece of meat multiple times. These women need a lot of physical therapy and emotional support from their families and friends. Sadly, most of them do not achieve either one.
