Sex without Love I chose to write about ‘’sex without love’’ because the writer makes it easy and clear to understand why she is questioning herself on how individuals can engage themselves in having sex without love. In this poem there are many instances. This poem of symbolism readers will try to find a meaning of this poem, and ask themselves why people should have sex without love. However, the poem has a clear understanding concerning the meaning of this ‘’sex without love’’, Sharon Olds writes exactly what she feels of the subject ‘’sex without love’’. She takes the reader deeper in to the subject. This is the interesting part, as readers want to understand the meaning of the poem sex without love. Many people view sex as an intimate connection with the person they love. But this modern world, things have changed. People are more open about their sexuality and ready to go out to enjoy themselves without having emotional baggage that comes with love and relationships. This does not mean we can have sex without love. How can people have sex without being in love? Sharon describes the act, as well as her apparent disapproval of sex without love. She refers to the people as ‘’they’ ’in line 1, showing her difference in opinion of the action of sex without love. She goes on to describe these partners in many ways, such as dancer, and ice skaters. Also she describes their faces as steak and wine. The description the writer uses describing the partners, show how much she is left in a shock and wondering how people can have sex without love. The worst thing individuals can do is to go into sex with someone knowing that you are not going for a relationship.
