Sexual Assault Case Study

One in every 5 women (20%) will be sexually assaulted while in college. this issue is addressed, in a current news article from the Washington Post, when a fraternity president at Cornell University is charged with sexual assault that includes; first-degree attempted rape, first degree criminal sex act with a helpless victim and sexual misconduct. The details and date of the incident are not disclosed in the article. The fraternity’s president Wolfgang Ballinger, a 21year old junior at Cornell University, was identified by the Cornell University Police Department with help from the victim. The universities’ Interfraternity Council, passed a measure afterwards, mandating all fraternities to be trained in consent education, sexual assault prevention and bystander intervention. Garrett, acknowledges that nationwide campus sexual assaults are on the rise and states it will not be tolerated in any form.
