The first part of this law would be to explicitly define sex as discussed in Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (n.d.). We as a society shouldn’t rely on the legal system to legitimize whether specific actions are right or wrong. The ability to determine an action is ethically or morally right or wrong; it should be an inept characteristic that is instilled into each of our moral compasses. The society that we live in today is completely different from that of 20 years ago. Today, it is frowned upon when an individual is treated unfairly based on his/her sex, age, race, and even a person’s sexual orientation more so than in the past. Not only do our morals and ethics gauge our individual actions, but so does the law.…

According to my research it states that throughout the history women have been treated as second- class citizens. Women have had fewer rights and job opportunity. The status for women in the history has been for them to be house wives and take care of the children, while the men worked doing hard labor. Women had little opportunity to get an education. Women in the workforce in the 1850’s jobs includes domestic services, clothing textiles, teaching, making shoes, wools, and hat making. In our day and age, being of a sexual orientation other than heterosexual is somewhat common. Though it is definitely not considered a norm, it is more accepted in most parts of the world. A few years ago, people who were not heterosexual had to hide who they really were in order to be accepted by society. Because of this norm, one automatically assumes they are straight whether it comes to themselves or others. So how do homosexual/asexual people become conscious of their sexual orientation?…

It’s difficult to choose which type of discrimination needs the most immediate attention, especially on a world scale, as there are so many forms of prejudice and many I am unaware of .With the ones I do know about it’s difficult to choose the one that creates the most harm. Is the discrimination against women the most damaging as they are a significant part of our population? Should we address the violence against them and the economic and social repression? Should we address the strain of nationalism and anti-immigrant rhetoric that is abundant in countries like the U.S and Britain? Should we address the discrimination against people of the Islāmic faith or those of the LGBTQ community?…

A long time ago, in 1791 Olympe de Gouges wrote the “Declaration of the Rights of Women and the Female Citizen” nowadays in 2012 sexual discrimination has not yet ended. Even when applying for a job, women have to undertake the legacy of an old chauvinist society. For instance, when a woman decides to have a child they face another problem, who is the one that should foster the child? Despite of the fact that women are working more than in the past decades, it is still wrongly seen when a woman leaves her child in charge of a babysitter or even the father. So despite of huge improvements within sexual equality, women are still facing discrimination in many areas. Some of these areas will be discussed on this essay.…
