In the class there are 41 fluent English-speaking students and 23 ELL students. The ELL students are divided between ESOL levels 3-5. Mr. Rodriguez does not assign special seats assignments for the ELL learners; however, he suggests they sit with a battle-buddy. The battle-buddy can either be a student that speaks fluent English or has more experience in the program. The teacher’s desk is situated behind the students and all the student sit in rows. It is your typical teacher centered classroom, although Mr. Rodriquez never sits at his desk. He is constantly at the front of the class or walking around room. As for materials, Mr. Rodriguez has textbooks, leadership student handout booklets, video/audio, and the word wall. Since the materials…

A career development plan can be done at any time during an individual’s career. Developing a five year career plan is an acceptable time frame because a year can pass extremely fast when trying to accomplish any goal. When looking at a five year career plan the first recommendation is for an individual to create a self assessment, find desires and passions, along with the amount of compensation. If this is a struggle because compensation is unknown, put research into this by visiting different websites, or speaking with individuals working in the field.…

“The American Climbing the Ranks of ISIS” is a very well written piece by Graeme Wood which explores the journey of a young rebellious white American from a military family into a terrorist organization. The author tells a story of Yahya Abu Hasan (born as John Georgelas), a man originating from a Greek-America military family, and how events throughout his life landed him into a top rank of ISIS. The most intriguing element of the story is the author’s sterling ability to draw a connection between the past and the present, and the conclusion that every action has an equal and opposite reaction.…

In the common read, 101 Things to do Before You Gradate by Patricia Hudak and Jullien Gordon, it is filled with many interesting tips that in some way does make sense, that we should do all of these things to better our life when we graduate. The many tips should not be a choice but a requirement we, as university students should take in to account and do. The book is easy to understand, also along with the tip there is a “Getting Started” section, that helps you start checking of the list with ease. One of the tips that caught my attention was tip #10, “Conduct Research with a Professor”, which also goes well with tip #12, “Get Published.”…

Within my Job role as team leader it is my own responsibility to further my own professional development. I can do this by attending regular training courses and sessions offered. I also ensure I check and update myself with the company’s policies and procedures as well as national legislation. I regularly check the company intranet to see if any of our policies have been updated or changed updating my own knowledge so any information given to staff is current and correct. We also receive bulletins weekly via email with any changes or updates. It is also important to check national legislation for example the Health and safety at work (1992) and the management of health and safety (1999) this ensures that I and my work force are working in a safe environment. I can also access new training opportunities via my supervisions with my manager, who gives me feedback on my performance and may be able to advise about any training I could benefit from. I can also ask if I feel I would benefit and further my professional development with additional training, which would be available for me to attend. It may be necessary to access outside training for my development, such as specialised training including catheter/stoma care, nebuliser training. This I then pass down to my staff. I also am developing via Bedford College who have enabled me to access my NVQ level 5 in health and social care for adults and young people. During supervisions it gives me and my manager the opportunity to evaluate and my knowledge and develop any training requirements. It is important for my manager to assess and acknowledge where I need improvement so I can be a more effective manager to the staff I manage. Any training I have completed is documented and written records are in my personnel folder in our office. This is regularly checked and updates for any training are booked in to enable me to have the most up to date knowledge I…
