It is composed of several different lyrical speech-like phrases with rhapsodic emotions with a low level rhythm. The rhythm is based on a syllable count, accents, and long and short vowels. In the background of the piece is the sound of a faint fiddle. It is harmonically accompanying the angelical choir through the highs and lows of the chant. In this recording, there is an added drone accompaniment that was not in the original single melodic line manuscript. At first, the melody seems calm as it proceeds primarily by step within a low register. Then the melody creates a sense of progression and growth as it moves gradually through a wide pitch range. The melody soars up to two and one half octaves, leaping and swirling into a flourish of emotions. The heights of this chant are like the spires of Gothic cathedrals shooting upwards into the sky. The climactic tone is reserved for the concluding phrase, which gently descends by step to the original low…

Historical Background: Jewish dispersion throughout Europe, the Diaspora, began during the Roman Empire. Throughout the Middle Ages, rulers and Christian church authorities passed laws limiting Jewish professions and land ownership, and requiring that Jews be publicly identified by dress. Jewish religious observances and customs, including Saturday Sabbath worship, prohibitions against consumption of pork, and circumcision set them apart from and often aroused the hostility of the Christian communities in which they lived. This hostility resulted in periodic expulsions of Jews, as in France in 1182 and later in 1306, and in England in 1290. Devastated by Mongol invasions in the 13th century, Polish princes welcomed immigrants from Western Europe which resulted in the establishment of a large Jewish population there by the sixteenth century.…

Troy Maxson transforms into a lonely, unloved, fearful man from his original position as the center of attention in his family and social world. Though he constantly tries to escape his life, Troy Maxson tries to engage life and challenge Death because he believes in himself and his convictions, however illusionary they may be. Troy begins by confronting his employees about their discriminatory practices, he boasts to his best friend Bono and family member that he is not afraid of death and he keeps a secret that he thinks he can get away with about his affair with Alberta. When Troy demands respect from his son, Cory, he gets it and when he teases his other son Lyons, Troy feels bigger and better. Shown through the three Fridays interspersed in Fences, Troy rapidly descends into a lonely, friendless and loveless life when his fears, his anger and his secrets get the better of him, causing his loved ones to lose their respect for him and to change their life so that they do not depend on his presence anymore. Troy forfeits his role of loving and devoted husband, generous and responsible parent and loyal, honest and inspiring friend. Troy goes from juggling two relationships with women to having none. Troy calls the risky action of having an affair with Alberta, "stealing second." If that is how Troy plays ball at the beginning of the play, then one could say he ends the play as a benchwarmer.…

The concept of fate is a course of inevitable, predetermined events with a set outcome. Fate is inescapable and is usually thought to be determined by a higher power such as a divine entity. There is also the concept of interfering with fate and choose another path, however this concept is paradoxical, as the final outcome may ironically be the “real” predetermined result. Fate also gets used interchangeably with destiny. The two concepts are very similar and the final verdict of inevitability is present for both. “Choosing” ones destiny is a false concept for the same reason as intervening fate. Fate has been used as a theme in many literatures and beliefs including the Greek tragedy Oedipus Rex, Theseus and the Minotaur, and the early American concept of Manifest Destiny.…

    Music of the Renaissance

The Renaissance era occurred between 1400 and 1600 and was a revitalization of learning, commerce, exploration (Columbus who discovered Jamaica in 1492, Drake, Magellan, Balboa), scientific discovery (Galileo, da Vinci, Copernicus), and spectacular artistic achievement (da Vinci, Erasmus, Cervantes, Michelangelo, Shakespeare, Machiavelli, and Ronsard). Although Renaissance artists and philosophers were no less religious than those of the Middle Ages, they did seek to reconcile theological practice with the new spirit of scientific inquiry (a philosophy called Humanism[1] that pervaded this era). The Protestant Reformation (initiated in 1517 by Martin Luther 's inquiries against the teachings of the Catholic Church, and the resultant founding of the Lutheran denomination) also had a tremendous impact on Renaissance music. This religious rebellion was further solidified in 1534 when King Henry VIII of England established his own church (Anglican) because the Pope refused to allow Henry to divorce his first wife, Katherine of Aragon (who could not bear him a son/future heir to the English throne).…

Air Transportation Association of Canada (ATAC) came into existence as a result of a conference of aircraft operators and aircraft manufacturers held in Ottawa on November 18, 1934. Forty-one delegates from commercial companies were present, as well as nine representatives from the Civil Aviation Division-which was then under the Department of National Defence, and five members of the National Research Council. The association was called the Commercial Air Transport and Manufacturers ' Association of Canada. On November 2, 1942 the name was changed to the Air Industries and Transport Association of Canada and on April 9, 1962, when the industrial members withdrew, the continuing group formed in 1934 was renamed the Air Transport Association of Canada. Nowadays, ATAC advances the issues that affect members ' bottom lines. They deliver direct value through a set of services, which help shape the development of those issues in the public realm. Also, it serves as Canada 's national trade association for commercial aviation and flight training industries as well as aviation industry suppliers.…
