 by Claude Shannon and Warren Weaver.
 It embodies the concepts of information source,

message, transmitter, signal, channel, noise, receiver, information destination, probability of error, encoding, decoding, information rate, channel capacity, etc.
a model which reduces communication to a process of 'transmitting information'.

Physical Noise:
a loud motorbike roaring down the road

while you're trying to hold a conversation
your little brother standing in front of the
TV set
mist on the inside of the car windscreen
smudges on a printed page
'snow' on a TV set

STRENGTHS:
simplicity,
generality, and
quantifiability.

most types of communication.

Weaknesses:
the source is the decision maker and that

the destination is passive.
it does not allow for feedback.
it does not allow for context.
