Sheep Descriptive Writing
I woke up one April morning with the chickadees chirping rapidly in the tree branches. I threw my pants and socks on and rushed down the stairs as the smell of fresh bread assaulted my nose. Mom was already awake and greeted me with a slice of crispy toast, the butter was perfectly melted and seeped into the crust one squeeze, and it oozed out and dripped on the floor. Once I put my boots on, my feet were excited and before I knew it, I was flying out the door. One step outside and the smell of melting snow and cold mud flooded my sinuses, and I was overwhelmed with the scent of spring. The air was crisp and cool on my face. With each breath I could feel the chilly air run down my throat and into my lungs, it was quite soothing to my thirty-seven-degree …show more content…
On my walk there, the melting snow was sloshing and crunching under my rubber boots, with every step I slipped in the mud and snow. I passed the sheep pen on my way there. The sheep were bleating at me for grain and scratches under their chins, I spent some time with them feeding them hay and attention that they always crave. Their woolly coats were sticking to my dry hands. As warm and comforting as the sheep, I was determined to hop on the swing set that morning, so I set off again. When I reached the cherry orchard where the swings were located, I could smell the sweet scent of grass. There was a thick fog around the cherry bushes and swings, each breath had a moist inviting texture that made me want to inhale more. At last, I jumped on the swing set and had a rush of wind fly past my ears as I rose higher and higher into the sky. My heart was racing, and my hands were fighting the urge to let go and send me soaring through the morning sky. A red sun rose over the trees, towering so high yet so close that I felt I could reach out and grab a handful. The clouds became more visible as the red blight caressed their fluffy …show more content…
I sauntered over to my destination and took my time doing so. During my trek across the driveway, I noticed an army of ants performing a Congo line in single file towards and back from a cookie I dropped the night before. The morning dew made the cookie malleable so the Ant Troppers could tear it piece by piece. I crouched down to see this spectacular event more closely and I noticed the Formicidae’s abdomens flexing as they tore off chunks of sweet cookie goodness. Leaving the inferior species to mingle and bicker over scraps and waste, I kept walking to the backyard. The sun was berating down hard on my scalp, I noticed it started to sweat as it trickled down my flushed skin and stung when it greeted my eyes. I was not the only one to feel the wrath of Earth's favorite star, because my dogs were also scouring the ground for a morsel of shade. The leaves appeared to be weeping and begging for night to creep in. I ended up sitting under an elder spruce that towered over the yard, and I could smell all the scents of spring. It appeared that summer was around the corner and was taking the world by surprise for there are pools of water where skiffs of snow stood proud this morning, but for me I just waddled back inside to take advantage of Mom's fresh

The mountains were stone dark, secured with trees whose hues were a blend of woodsy cocoa, knoll, key lime, and margarita green. Scattered powder-puff mists gradually fled over the sky and the sun feed like a bolt. Seeing this made me feel like I inadvertently touched base to paradise. I breath gradually, attempting to recall each snapshot of me being encompassed by woodland, sky, and mountains. We began climbing the gigantic mountain, talking, grinning and chuckling together. After like an hour we sat down for a moment on an immense uneven and dusty rock close to the waterfall. The wind that blew through the trees into our confronts now conveyed a light sprinkle from the waterfall, and a clue of peace. The sound of the wind shrieking, the waterfall smashing against the stones and the fowls singing their wonderful tunes, made me feel considerably more joyful than I was at that point. We began moving to the top once more. My legs began to hurt yet I didn't give an indication of my torment. I raised my eyes to the sky, and my sight fell on the hawk who skimmed over the wind. At that time, I craved flying as well, over the mountains and over the oceans. I strolled slower now, thinking how brilliant it would be to fly, and the greater part of the…

Upon arriving at the state park, the beautiful trees of autumn welcome you along with the variety of faces unfamiliar to you, walking around care-free. The trunks of the trees were all sorts of sizes with multitude colors; the trees were particularly brown, like milk chocolate. While some trees were bare, others possessed a thick collection of leaves, fanning out like the mane of a lion. The collection of people walking among the fallen autumn leaves creates an everlasting sound—swish, swish, swish. The faint sound of the lake brushing against the sand murmurs in the distance, inviting you to…

You feel the cool air warm up around yourself. There is a pleasantness that can only be found in these warm winter days. Birds squawk overhead. In a pack they fly in v’s. You wanted to fly, but the dream fled after you jumped off the deck. Birds gain height, you gained a broken arm. The birds slow and descend onto the small patch of grass to your left. Wildlife is all around you, but the adults don’t seem to notice. Not far ahead, a squirrel shoves acorns into his mouth, climbing up a tree he deposits his cache into a hole. He runs down the tree to start the process again. Nature is a cycle, a loop that won’t…

The sun shone vibrantly through the trees and I loved the way it complemented the gold leaves. I started to notice the incline to the top of the hill, it was steady unlike the Adirondacks where you go up and down. When I got to the top I saw a spectacular view of the surrounding neighborhoods and way in the distance I saw the buildings of Rochester. As I stood there I admired the pure beauty that lies so close to home. It is hard to believe that a wilderness like this one could be surrounded by suburban neighborhoods. Being higher up and in an open space I could really appreciate the mixture of golds, oranges and yellows it was different than being on regular ground level. I thought to myself ‘’I should do this more often, it’s peaceful and healthy.’’ I felt a certain peace with in me while I’m in the woods, suddenly my phone vibration broke my train of thought. It was my stepmom texting me to see if everything was okay, I replied yes and I’d be back at the trailhead in a short time. The leaves snapped and cracked under my feet on the way back and the crisp fall air made the not yet fallen leaves dance in the trees, it was getting later in the day. I was three quarters through the loop so I was still fine,I wasn’t…

It was an oddly quiet Sunday morning in the middle of December. Clear skies, forests and beautiful snow-capped mountains dominated the views from my front porch. The temperature was mild, one of those days you could wear a thin sweater and be a little chilly. There were no birds chirping or butterflies fluttering, as they had all left to the south to find a more suitable environment for them or died. I had missed this type of day when you could relax in the peacefulness of the quiet morning…

Driving. Witnessing my last glimpses of life. The trees violently stumbling side to side in the gale force winds. The clouds discolouring: from a snow white to a mouldy grey, shield encasing its inhabitants. The biting cold was a very strong reminder that it was December the 22nd and ever so close to my once happy anniversary.…

The crisp fall air lapped my face like a little puppy licking a boy. The air felt like a little leather whip was hitting my face constantly, giving me burns. But of course I knew it was windburn. It had rained recently and the scent of pine filled the car as we drove with our windows down. I noticed wet red dirt that resembled clay. I pointed out this discovery to the kids, whom were amazed at every new sight. The air was so clean, there was no scent of smog, to which I had grown accustomed, in my home town. We observed many trees and relished in their beauty. There were trees of all kinds ranging from pine, to cedar, hickory and many others. The colors that filled them made me realize, I had truly arrived. The scenery was so beautiful and welcoming. I was home and it felt that way from the moment I arrived. My children and I noticed fall leaves everywhere. All colors associated with autumn made me cry, I was just so happy and exhausted. I couldn’t wait to get out of the car and really relax. After about three days of driving I was totally worn out and suffered from a bad case of insomnia. In spite of it all, I was excited to start my new job and our new…

Similar to the suburban street I grew up on, but in lieu of cookie-cutter houses, there stood wood cabins with yards covered in snow in place of stale Bermuda grass. The reddish-orange light emanating from the towering street lights pierced through that white fog and gently illuminated the area. Exiting the car I was overwhelmed with a flurry of new sensations. The gently falling snow absorbed all of the sounds I was used to hearing in a residential area. The low hum of passing cars, birds singing from the trees, even the sound of blowing wind appeared to be muffled and silenced by the steady falling snow. I felt enveloped in a cool, however familiar blanket. The smell of wood burning was coming from every direction as each house I looked at had a thin, grayish plume gently rising from the chimney signaling warmth and comfort for the many nestled up. Looking down the street towards the way we came in, I noticed how freshly plowed it was. A thin layer of snow and ice, like icing on a cupcake or the glass top on my parent’s nightstand, covered the street while a pile of snow that could have swallowed me alive, sat on the sidewalk. Feeling taunted, I stood there and weighed my options. Chest deep mounds of frozen crystals begged me to dive in and lose myself. Surrendering myself to the temptations before me was only hindered by the fear of the wrath my parents would surely show. But had that ever stopped me before? Ignoring the…

This day started towards the end of a fall night. The time of year where, if there weren’t clouds, then it would be that orange-red color and the sun acting like it is playing hide and seek with the horizon of the earth. This day was not a clear day, in the distance, approaching from the west, a storm was coming in. My dad and I were fishing in one of the local ponds, watching the lighting in the distance popping of like a war just a few miles away. All you saw was bright flashes about 30 seconds apart. We could tell that it was about to rain for many reasons one being the leaves on the trees, even though they were beginning to turn from their green, that is impossible to repeat, that green that during early spring it amazes you because…
