Physically both Bromden and McMurphy are huge. But, unlike McMurphy, Bromden does not have the self-confidence to match his gigantic exterior. This contrast in personality is due to the idea that Bromden has constantly been maltreated for the entirety of his life. A few imperative traits that describe a responsible and mature judge are devotion, integrity, and accuracy. Some say that Danforth is a seemingly intelligent and experienced judge, but does he contain the traits that are desired in every judge? Others may believe that his pride leads him to making irrational decisions in “The Crucible” by Arthur Miller. Danforth likes to think of himself as a fair-minded man, which is not clearly represented throughout the play. He is unwilling to believe the truth and has no integrity.…

The first character that I will discuss is Mabel, which is Norma Jean's mother in the story "Shiloh." Mabel is very controlling and pushy when it comes to her daughters life. She is also very straight forward with her daughter about what she has done wrong in her life and what she should be doing with it now. Mabel has very strong roots from the south since that is where she grew up. She takes pride in being from the south and part of the confederacy even though the Civil War was fought almost one hundred years before this story was written. With Mabel being proud of being apart of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, she felt like her life needed to be almost perfect so she didn't approve of how her daughter was living her life.…

I have read two-thirds of, It's Kind of a Funny Story. I was supposed to stop at half way, but it is so good that I lost track of time. One goal Craig is approaching, is to be a better Craig. Checking himself into the hospital for having suicidal tendencies was already a big step in trying to reach this goal. That shows how much he wants to change, when things could have very easily went a different way. The actions that Craig took that night when he called the suicide hot line demonstrates the kind of person he wants to be. Craig realizes that he needs to get better, which makes me think his motivation for completing this goal is fantasizing about how great his life is going to be when he…

The Viking Press published it in 1952. The narration takes place from 1862 to 1918, mostly in the Salinas Valley, although some episodes happen in Massachusetts and Connecticut. John Steinbeck's East of Eden depicts humanity's struggle between virtue and in as a perpetual narrative of human history. Bartleby is described as completely emotionless. He wrote on silently, palely and mechanically, at first when he wrote. He is also described as a ghost. It should be pointed out that the narrator’s problems with his other employees have to do with their unreliability, sloppiness and flaring tempers. Turkey and Nippers are quite the opposite of Bartleby, yet the main conflict that “Bartleby the Scrivener” presents is an internal problem. The narrator cannot deal with someone who appears to be void of any human attributes. In the descriptions of Turkey and Nippers, there is some sort of organic mechanization in the way they work, and how their temperaments change: “Their fits relieved each other, like guards. When Nipper’s was on, Turkey’s was off; and vice versa”. “Ah, Bartleby! Ah, humanity!” is the closing sentence in Melville’s short story “Bartleby the Scrivener”. It is a strong claim about what it means to act according to a certain concept of humanness. The author may be saying that it is human nature to have faults; however losing the ability to emote and connect with one’s surrounding world is…
