Truman Streckfus Persons was born September 24, 1924, in New Orleans, LA. Archulus Persons and Lillie May Faulk, divorced when he was 4 years old. While his mother and her second husband, Joseph Garcia Capote, a Cuban-American businessman, lived in New York, he lived with relatives in Monroeville, Alabama (Good). At the time his closest friends were an elderly cousin, Miss Sook Faulk, and Harper Lee, who later went on to write “To Kill A Mockingbird”.
