Living in a house or an apartment are genuinely two personal choices people usually have to make when finding a place for their family to live in. It all depends on how big an individual's family is, and coming from a culture where the whole family including the extended family prefers living under one roof, solely due to this reason I would prefer to live in a house because of a large family. Therefore people with smaller families would most likely choose an apartment compared to a large family. Both living in an apartment and a house have their own advantages and disadvantages.
Residing in the modern apartment building has its own pros and cons. Currently, my family is facing some obvious problems of living in an apartment. Firstly, the suites are extremely compact for a large family to live in and there is barely any space for the children to play in the apartment since there is no backyard. Along with that, only one car parking is allotted per residence which is not enough because many people have more than one car. Secondly, the amount of units on one floor are way too many as that causes an increase in the noise level from the neighbors which sometimes becomes very irritating. Lastly, we require the landlord’s permission for every embellishment we want to make in our apartment. Even though the disadvantages overshadow the advantages of living in an apartment, according to my needs, there are still a few advantages of residing in an apartment. The main advantage of living in an apartment is that it is usually cheaper than a house. Another important benefit is the availability of on call services such as plumber, carpenter, and electrician, which makes it very convenient as all the maintenance is taken care of by the building staff.
On the other hand, living in a house also has a number of disadvantages, but more advantages in terms of my family priorities. The significant advantage of a house is that it is more spacious and convenient. For instance, it has more rooms, more than one bathroom, a basement which provides everyone in the house with sufficient space to do whatever they desire as well. Besides that it comes with a backyard, which provides a safe environment for children to play in, along with that a yard can be an ideal place for throwing a private party too. Another benefit is that there are enough parking spaces for more than two cars and you do not have to pay for it; also you do not have to wait for the elevator every time you get out of the house. Moreover, freedom and privacy issues are other considerable advantages of living in a house. Neighbors living at a distance give opportunity for peace and as a result less contradiction. Any type of modification can be done to the house since you are the house owner, and do not have to worry about the landlord. However, along with so many advantages there are also a few non-negligible drawbacks of residing in a house. In particular, living in a house is more expensive because not everyone can afford paying the mortgage off and it also requires a lot of maintenance such as small repairing, mowing the garden and shoveling the snow in winter. In the end, it is a well-balanced matter of discussion. Preference to live in a house or apartment both their own pros and cons, thus, it all relies on the family’s personal priorities and financial circumstances. Therefore, with the right decision, and a few other compromises life can become trouble-free.
