Short Essay On Florida Panthers
The Florida Panther (Puma concolor coryi) was placed on the endangered species list in 1973, and there are less than one hundred of the Florida Panthers still alive. I chose this bigger cat because they beautiful felines that may be close to extinction. In writing about this animal, I hope to bring attention to the fact that they are often killed by cars, people shoot them because they eat the animals on their property, and they also can die from genetic problems from mating with other cat species.
The Florida Panthers are beautiful larger cats that are about 6-7 feet in length and the males are bigger than the females. They have tan coloring and black marks on their tail tips and around their ears and snouts. They have fur that is light brown-beige in color. They have bent tails and a

Upland forests provide dry ground for resting and denning, and prey density is higher than it is in lower habitats where flooding is more common” (Everglades National Park (U.S. National Park Service)). The panthers that live in the Everglades weigh less than the Florida Panthers who live in the Uplands because it is mostly wetlands. Because of deforestation (cutting down forests) this drives the Florida Panther out of their habitats and they less land to live on.
Since the Florida Panther is a carnivore and predator, they are dangerous to their prey and they still purr because they cannot roar. They hunt for their food and eat white-tailed deer, feral hogs, raccoons and medium-sized mammals, reptiles, and birds (National Wildlife Foundation). Florida Panther may also hunt for rabbits, armadillos, and alligators. The Florida Panther has no fear to approach farms or residences that have animals and livestock to hunt for food, and they may be killed by the owners who are trying to protect their animals from becoming
