The panthers that live in the Everglades weigh less than the Florida Panthers who live in the Uplands because it is mostly wetlands. Because of deforestation (cutting down forests) this drives the Florida Panther out of their habitats and they less land to live on.
Since the Florida Panther is a carnivore and predator, they are dangerous to their prey and they still purr because they cannot roar. They hunt for their food and eat white-tailed deer, feral hogs, raccoons and medium-sized mammals, reptiles, and birds (National Wildlife Foundation). Florida Panther may also hunt for rabbits, armadillos, and alligators. The Florida Panther has no fear to approach farms or residences that have animals and livestock to hunt for food, and they may be killed by the owners who are trying to protect their animals from becoming
