Short Story
Once upon a time there was a boy laid in a corner of a dark room, he was alone and silent. The only noise was that of footsteps which entered the room.
"Macro! Get up you swine" said the man. His voice was very deep and menacing. He wore a redcap with a dark green army suit, again he shouted and the boy slowly rose from the floor.
“We know that you are involved with a gang of villains called the Mad Catz but where IS your secret layer?!!” screamed the man impatiently
“I don’t work with them, in fact I have never heard of them! Can I go now please?”
“NO! Modular! Sargent! Take this imbecile to the testing room NOW!” More footsteps could be heard, a shriek of pain and then bang...the door slammed shut.
The Sargent and his apprentice Modular took the boy to the electrocution room, it was a large room with a humungous red door, it said danger high voltage. The Macro’s eyes widened. They all entered, the boy was flung to the ground and strapped up to a machine at the far side of the room.
“This may hurt a little…” said the Sargent smiling to himself. His long spindly finger whipped out of his tightly clenched hand and moved towards a big red button on the side of the machine.
“STRIKE 1!” he shouted and a spark flew out of the machine. But the Macro had had no shock, no effect at all actually, he just sat clueless on the floor. “ What’s happening” whispered the Sargent in confusion…
“STRIKE 2!” he shouted and again the same thing happened. He whipped around and stared at the boy, he moved towards him and slapped his wrist. Just then the man noticed something on the boy’s wrist, Macro noticed it too and tried to move the strap to cover it up. But it was too late. The Sargent had seen it and was reaching out to touch it, his hand grasped around Macro’s wrist unscrewing something as he did. Macro’s eyes widened again. His hand dropped to the floor, separate from his wrist. The Sargent inspected his hand and gasped.. “That’s why the electrocution didn’t

The numerous examples of imagery throughout the essay portray how inhumane, cruel and barbaric electrocutions are. The author then portrays the scene of Mr.Holton’s execution as an observer, he states “With the push of a button on a console labeled Electric Chair Control, 1750 volts bolt through Mr.Holton’s body, jerking it up and dropping it like a sack of earth.” ( 68) The three imagery phrases here “ jerking it up “, “ dropping it”, and “ a sack of earth” invoke the readers for the cruelty of Mr.Holton’s death. Moreover, in the up coming paragraph the author talks about the second bolt of electrocution which enhances the cruelty of the execution by describing“ Fifteen seconds later, another bolt, and Mr.Holton’s body rises even higher, slumps even lower. His reddened hands remain gripped to the arms of the chair, whose oaken pieces are said to have once belonged to the old electric chair, and before that, to the gallows “(68). The “reddened hands” and “ gripped” are the two powerful phrases that reflect Mr.Holton’s great desire to survive before his death; The author also uses contrary words such as “ rises” versus“ slumps”, “higher” versus “ lower” in order to deeply engrave Mr. Holton’s death scene in reader’s…

Boom! The sound snaps us all to life, ensnaring our senses and shaking every fiber of our beings. In less than ten seconds we're all on our feet and almost in complete chaos. I snatch up my gun and the first few of us rush out of the barracks to find the colonel for orders. Boom! This time the blast is right behind us and our barracks bursts into a roaring wall of flames. The blast sends us falling face first to the ground. All of our fellow soldiers, our friends, were still inside and now the building is crumbling in a massive inferno. "We have to move!" Chris says, leaping to his feet, and the three of us run through camp and locate the colonel. "Grab a gun and form up on the coast line. We don't need to fight on two fronts." He orders us.…

“Are you ok?” her voice rung through the air like the song of an angel. “yea i'm fine” I said still staring into her eyes, she blushed. I snapped back to my senses when a much less attractive old man moved her aside and started asking me questions. He hesitated then ”Deal” he said through gritted teeth. I slowly got off and stood up and smelled the air it was different than the air on the autobahn map this was much sweeter. His chest sunk down, and for a moment the man resigned his fate into the hands of what seemed like a boulder on his back. However, an instinct reared him back up, discarding the burden off of him into the cold, hard ground which he moved upon.
