Infertility, or sterility, is the inability to produce offspring or the inability to conceive. Although the majority of American men and women assume that they will mature, fall in love, and create children of their own, the rate of fertility continues to decrease over the years, and the American dream of becoming a parent does not always become a reality. Although some men and women are complacent with adoption or an egg/sperm donation, others who plan for a child of their own consider infertility as a major devastation. Research has shown that over thirty percent of women in America experience complications with fertility and fourteen percent of all clinically recognized pregnancies in America result in a miscarriage or stillbirth (Schwerdtfeger). However, fertility is not just a concern for females. For centuries, if a couple were unable to have children, the fault was put on the women, although we now know that both men and women suffer equally from fertility complications. Among couples who are infertile, about forty percent of cases are exclusively due to female infertility, forty percent to male infertility and ten percent involving problems with both partners (McArthur). The factor of not being able to produce offspring is a hard concept to endure for both genders, and can result in severe emotional issues that can be sustained for an extended period of time. The effects of being infertile can take a severe toll on one’s relationship with family, friends, and most commonly, their significant other.…

SMARTHINKING's E-structor Response Form (Your marked-up essay is below this form.) HOW THIS WORKS: Your e-structor has written overview comments about your essay in the form below. Your e-structor has also embedded comments [in bold and in brackets] throughout your essay. Thank you for choosing SMARTHINKING's OWL; best wishes with revising your paper! Hi, Gregory! I am Kobe F., and I am happy to read and comment on your work today. I like your choice of Jimmy Cross for your discussion because he suffers the most important conflict between desire and duty in O’Brien’s story. Below I suggest some improvements to your thesis statement, conclusion, and comma use to help you enhance your paper. The ERF and embedded comments include the draft being on topic and grammatically correct as in “Help Requested.” So here we go!  *Strengths of the essay: The strongest point of this draft is that you start the introduction with “What is more important desires or obligations?” as your most important topic-related question that hooks readers to read on. Well done, Gregory! *Gregory 6001059 has requested that you respond to the Main Idea/Thesis: “Jimmy Cross the protagonist in O’Brien’s “The Things They Carried” is pulled astray from his obligations as a leader and protector by his desires for love” identifies your topic and the story as well as its author, but your thesis statement must do more, Gregory. Remember, naming the main topic, defining the purpose of the essay, and indicating the main discussion points to follow are the important tasks of the essay’s thesis that is best given at the end of your introductory paragraph after the essential background details. Look at this model: The central theme of the novel East of Eden by John Steinbeck is that love and hate are closely related (topic), so the qualities of each emotion [core idea 1(love) and 2 (hate)] and the relationship between the two (core idea 3) will be discussed to prove that they are reversible aspects of the…

The fourth quarter had arrived and all the pressure was suddenly nudging against our team and Cadillac. The score was even, 65 to 65, as the starting five for the quarter huddled around Coach Dubie. Everybody, including me, were exhausted from a long, exasperating battle. “ Alright boys, let’s win this thing,” coach commented firmly. Then, we stepped onto the court ready for war. I matched up with my opponent, who was considerably larger than I and intimidating to most, but that didn’t matter now. Rapidly, Ryan passed the ball from out of bounds to Noah to start the quarter. Quickly, Noah dished the ball to me for an easy lay-up, which gave us the lead. Soon, the quarter was halfway over and the lead had suddenly taken favor of Cadillac’s team. Subsequently,Coach Dubie signaled for a time out and waved me over to the bench. So I seated myself next to Jason who had a look of doubt on his face as he glanced in the direction of the clock to see the score. “ Oh…

Bright lights. Clean walls. Clean floors. Pale uniforms. People rushing back and forth through the corridors. That nauseating smell that lingers in your nostrils for hours after you leave. Blood slipped down the left side of his face, dripping off his chin, slowly forming a tiny puddle between his legs. His hair was a mess, his clothes soaked - ragged in places where the medics had cut them to check him for injuries. He had been cleared, nothing but a few cuts and bruises. He staggered backwards, leaning up against the wall. One sharp breath. Another. Everything faded away, and simultaneously got unbearably brighter; he tried to detach himself from his surroundings. He wasn’t used to this, even with everything he’d been through in his life, he’d never felt this before. Sliding to the floor, he cradled his head in his palms, barely noticing the shudders that swept through his body, he could still smell burnt rubber and asphalt on his clothes. Pieces of shattered glass fell out of his hair. A voice was talking to him, he struggled to take in what the doctor was saying, but it seemed he had lost control of his mind, he was shutting down. Frantically, he searched for a way out, anything that would change what had happened, save him from having to accept what he was faced with. Without even acknowledging the nurse, he accepted the glass of water she held out to him. Gulp. He started to well up; told himself that he had to be strong, she wouldn’t want this, painfully he laughed out a sob as he thought about how she teased him about never crying. A lone tear escaped, wiping away some of the dirt on his face as it made its way down his cheek. “Shit.” “Sorry.” He was instinctively apologetic, even though he knew she wasn’t there; she hated when he swore. Gulp.…

I saw her. In a miniscule moment. Her long brown hair so luscious and lively, cascading like a waterfall past her shoulders down to her torso. Curls bouncing as she turned. Her eyes were as green as a tropical forest. When caught in your direction, they not only saw your body but also your soul. So bewitching, as if she could lure you in with a single grimace. I was breathless. Her beauty was bewildering. I could not seem to comprehend how a woman could be so perfect. It seemed as though utopia did exist, though it had taken human form. I had never felt like that before, it was incredible, yet somewhat miserable… would I ever see this woman again? Was she real or was I going mad? I continued to promenade through the markets. The thought of this woman still trapped in my mind.…

The literary analysis of the story ‘The apple tree’ by J.Galsworthy. John Galsworthy is a prominent English novelist, playwright and short-story writer. The genre of the text is social as the author describes social, professional spheres of life with the help of such vocabulary as: college, football, girl, friend and so on. The type of writing are narration, dialog and description. The author narrates about meeting of Frank Ashurst and his friend Robert Garton with a Megan. He describes their meeting andthe farm of Megan’s aunt. The basic theme is to show the different ways of being happy and having a piece in the heart for different people. There are by-theme such as: enjoy the things which you have in their natural manifestation, help to people, meeting on the farm with Mrs.Narracombe. The tone of the text is objective because the story is given in the third person singular. Let me analyze the composition of the story. The story begins with the title ‘The apple tree’ that is the clue to the whole story. In the exposition the author considers the people’s fates. From the beginning we learn the place, the time of the event, about the characters and their occupations. The composition of the text includes:…
