Short Story: Brian Holt And Matthew Bennett To Father Mary's Hospital
A follow up on a missing person’s case leads Detectives Brian Holt and Matthew Bennett to Father Mary’s Hospital, which had been abandoned 20 years prior.
As they pull up to the large lot leading to the hospital, they exit their vehicle and approached the glass doors and pushed them inside, disturbing dozen cobwebs in the process, the further they entered the rooms of the first floor, they try to stay silent so as to not alert anyone of their presence. As they walked further into the halls and as they search what they believe used to be a lounge or cafeteria of the sort, years of decay and rot make the floor weak and in an instant, Detective Holt falls through and into a dark abyss, at the sudden realization of his partner falling, Bennett quickly flashes down to his partner but the room is too dark and only see silhouettes of what he

He lunges at the dark in search of anything, as he searches for anything useful, he almost slips on what he realizes is his flashlight. He picks up and shines and see that he is surrounded by what seems to be the records of the hospital. When he was searching for an exit, he decided to search the contents of the cabinets, the first files seemed to be nothing but maintenance reports, as he opened a file to read, a rotted manilla folder fell out, when he opened up the folder to look at its contents he was shocked to find out that the government was conducting genetic experiments on former patients of the hospital, trying to make the ultimate soldier, but as he read further on it became clear that this failed, but it seemed the subject only referred as “88799” seemed to show higher intelligence than the other subjects, the rest of the notes were too faded with age to be legible, as he was contemplating on what his move will be, he was frozen stiff at the sound of an unknown door creaking

I lost track of time, but all I knew was that the daylight was disappearing. After taking the back roads we had finally approached the Wirraree hospital. The town was awfully quiet, so quiet that I could hear my pounding heart out in the open, making me fall in to great suspicion that I was in some sort of trap ready to be captured. Corrie and I were still in the car with the engine running. I didn’t want to get out just yet, unsure of why, but I knew there was soon to be a reason. Turning my head, I noticed three large security cameras in view. Without thinking clearly, I immediately swerved out of sight into a small dark alleyway not knowing it had a dead end. We hid in there for a few minutes, so I could swiftly think about how I could get Corrie out of the car and safely into the hospital without being seen. Before I really even had a minute to consider my…

On the eerie day of June 6 1896, the Peoria State Hospital was on its way to being built( dun dun dahhhhh). Then on the date of December 22, 1897 the facility was almost ready to be opened. Following the the opening on February 10, 1902 was a deadly day in history ( psst not really) the facility had been opened to its first 100 patients, by April there were over 634 patients ( I bet it was very luxurious). By the time the facility had been open for a year many “criminal acts” had been “happening” inside the building. On October 13 of 1903 a nurse had been beaten by to death by two other patients, but the murder was never tried (oh my). You may be thinking to yourself, “Wow this seems like a great place to live in!”…NOT! Many deaths have occurred in the building including the deaths of infants from patients in the facility. In 1905 Dr. Zeller a doctor at the facility made a notion to have all bars and restraints from the building (well this should be interesting). Jumping to a few years later, in 1967 a female nurse had been murdered, having been hit in the head with a steel bar from a lid of a garbage can. In the year of 1972 there had been three deaths in the building, including a patient Bernard Roe who was struck in the head with a chair at lunch by another patient, patient Jerome Spence was beaten by an inmate with had a 3 year old mentality, and James Logan who died of an ear infection. In December of 1973 the facility closed and the 600 patients in the facility were relocated. Today, the building is still standing but is not a working facility. It is only opened to the public, but for a special reason (oohh). The facility is opened for (drum roll please dadadadda) , ghost hunting! Now, you may be thinking no way, this place can’t be haunted, I mean there weren’t that many brutal deaths (well your wrong). The facility has had many professional ghost hunters come in, including famous TV shows, such as “Ghost Hunters” and “Ghost…

Once again, I found myself wandering through the uncomfortable, brightly lit halls of the hospital. I was to find the room where my father was, an all too familiar task. "Room 443", I was told by my mother who had requested me to take my dad back to his apartment. Upon entering the elevator I let out a sigh of apprehension and turned to wearily push the button labeled "4". Whiffs of disinfectant products meandered themselves inside my nose while I looked around to see egg-white walls and nurses shuffling about in their bright, floral print scrubs. One of them approached me with a kind smile. "May I help you?" I briefly responded saying I needed to find my father, Charles Jolitz. "Go down the hall. He's in the last room on the left." Slowly making my way to the door, I speculated about what had happened to my dad this time. I entered the room thinking to myself, "Boy, he looks worse every time.", his salt and pepper hair ruffled, beard unshaven and a look of loss on his face. Though as soon as his eyes met mine, that face lit up and the corners of his mouth upturned into a smile. "My chickadee!", he exclaimed. I asked him how he was feeling and if it was time to go as the nurse carted in a wheelchair. All three of us made our way down to the lobby exchanging small talk. I dashed to my car, happy to be out of the dreariness that is a hospital. I hoped he would tell me why he was there yet again. Once in the car, he told me in a few words that he had had another episode due to taking his pain medication with a fifth of vodka and had lost control. He ended up dialing 911. My dad hurriedly changed the subject asking if I was hungry and if I would like to go have a burger. I let out another sigh. "I'm sorry, Dad. I'm not hungry, I've already eaten but I can take you to get one. We can go for lunch later this week." "Alright, sweetie.", said he. We arrived at his apartment complex and I walked him to his…

While parking in the back, he intuitively notices two more ambulances speeding through the streets, between the sports bar and the neighboring lot. Worried he takes out his iPhone and calls “Gregory Frude”, nothing. Afterward, he called “James”, again nothing. “Maybe there not picking up because they’re inside already and they can’t hear or they’re driving still.” He tells himself. Inside, he waits at the podium for a waiter to seat him, finally after a few minutes of waiting, a girl named “Ashely”, came to sit him in the dining room. However, half of her face was in tears and the other half of her face was trying to remain calm and composed. Ashely grabs a napkin, wipes her tears. Then she turns to look at Russell. She asks, “How many are with you in your party…

i must have bang my head hard against the ground. I grab my head and notice that I'm bleeding from the side. As I get up I realize that I’m the only person in sight. I sit down for a minute trying to make sense of everything that has happened. I remember that the patient 314 has escaped. I also remember the shouting and the running. Scared from that memory, I focus on how I'm suppose to get out this abandoned mental institution. I head for the hallway and walk towards a huge map on a T.V. that directs you to the only available exit opened in this event. It read GARAGE. So i had to make a plan. Since I was on the 7th floor and I needed to get to the garage which was located under the 1st floor. I headed to the elevators, but seemed to be shut off so I had no other choice but to take the…
