Short Story If I Stay
In the story “If i Stay” by Gayle Forman, Mia and her family plan to go on a road trip. During their road trip, the family gets into a serious car accident. Mia finds herself in a coma and has an out of body experience. Although she is outside of her body, she can see everything that is happening, but nobody can see her. Mia finds out new things, while exploring around the hospital she is in and overhearing the people talking. First, Mia’s reaction to the car accident is she is scared. She hears the paramedics say that her mother died instantly and her father died after. Mia’s younger brother is rushed to the hospital, but also dies hours later. She finds out she is the only one who survived the accident, but is still in serious condition. From this, she checks up on how her family members who are staying at the hospital for her are reacting to the situation. Mia also thinks more about her relationships with the people in her life through flashbacks of memories with them. Second, Mia’s …show more content…
Adam reacts the worst to the situation due to not being allowed to see Mia because he is not an immediate family member. Kim, who is also told she cannot see Mia, gets angry. Both Adam and Kim then work together to sneak in to see Mia. Adam only gets to see Mia for a second before both kim and himself get caught. They then are brought back to where they started. In conclusion, Mia and her family got into a car accident. Mia ends up being the only one who survived, but is stuck in a coma. She has an out of body experience and can see everything that is happening, but nobody can see her. Mia follows her body to the hospital and checks up on how her family and friends are dealing with the situation. She also questions herself on whether she should go or stay. Mia starts answering her own question through memories with the people who are close to her and how she wants her future to
