Please see the attached recap of last night’s MAE event at FedEx Field in Landover, MD. It was a huge success that would not have been possible without the help of Lorie Arnotte, Carter Kriz, Lizz Para, and Ricky Hofbauer. They were the A-Team last night, and truly made it one of the most exciting events I have been a part of! They all did a phenomenal job PK’ing, engaging customers, and talking with THD management about our great line of tools for both Ridgid and HART. I wouldn’t want to be with any other team for this…
Candidate Dorney displayed a great amount of confidence throughout the entire evolution. He started off by getting accountability of his fire team. He spoke clearly and made constant eye contact with each member of his fire team as he briefed the five paragraph order. SNC requested a situation report from each fire team member. He stressed that time was of the essence. SNC gave the fire team specifics on how they would execute. He kept constant communication with the security and made sure there was no site of the enemy. SNC moved quickly and made his fire team move quickly as well. At the point of friction, there was no hesitation to devise a new plan and SNC ensured each member was aware of the change in plans. The fire team did…
On August 5, 1949, a wildfire overran 16 smokejumpers and firefighters in Mann Gulch on the Helena National Forest in Montana. The fire was most likely started by lightning from a thunderstorm. It was noticed promptly by rangers, who dispatched 16 smokejumpers, under the command of Wagner Dodge. Thought to be much smaller than it actually was, the fire quickly grew large and out of control, covering 3000 acres in 10 minutes during its blow up stage. Upon approaching Mann Gulch, the crew noticed the fire had already crossed onto their side of the gulch. Seeing the extreme danger in this, the order to retreat back up the slope was given and the men moved up the hill. Dodge later gave the order for the men to drop their pack…
Candidate Yonker began his brief with strong command presence and confidence. He continued to give the rest of the brief with the same tone and presence that he was displaying to the fire team. SNC’s brief was presented in a clear and fluent manner. At the end of the brief all members knew what their tasks were and what their role was in accomplishing the mission. SNC maintained constant communication with every member throughout the evolution. Once the team hit the first point of friction, SNC positioned himself where he would be able to best assist the team. The problem was quickly identified and the team leader adjusted and continued with the solution. SNC effectiveness under a stressful situation allowed the team to maintain forward progression…
Candidate Hintz successfully gave his brief to his fire team while outlining all the needed information for them to have an understanding of the mission at hand. Although, his brief was not completely filled with extensive detail, it was clear and concise enough for his team members to know what was needed to be done. While negotiating the obstacle, he guided and controlled his team as needed and made decisions on changes to the plan as required when they were faced with hazards and roadblocks. SNC performed at a standard level and was able to keep his team moving toward the objective until their time expired. SNC performed up to the standards that would be expected of a candidate during this point in…
On May 6, 2016 a police officer found himself facing a young African American holding a pistol. Police officer, Stephan Mader, was let go from his position weeks later for not shooting the African American with the pistol. Stephan Mader is suing the city because he does not think it is fair that he was let go for not shooting a person. The reason Stephan Mader did not shot the African American was because it seem that the guy, Mr. Williams, wanted to commit suicide by a police officer. Mr. William told Stephan to shot him. Stephan was trying to come down Mr. William until two other police officer saw Mr. William waving the gun and shot him dead. Then they notice that the weapon that Mr. William had was not loaded. After arriving at Erik’s house, Taylor kissed his girlfriend goodbye. When we go inside we are affectionately kissed and jumped on by Erik’s dogs. After watching TV and eating the pizza Eric cooked, we waited for the rest of the team for tonight’s adventure to arrive. Finally, Caleb and the rest of the crew showed and we prepared the battle van for the evening. We stopped for gas and six of us stuffed ourselves into the five person battle van. We were off to Lynden to investigate the claims regarding “The Goatman.”…
It was 5 minutes into our Hero’s Luncheon at the Gold Coast Casino and the speaker was honoring Tim Szymanski for his lifetime of work to keep Southern Nevada safe, when… the fire alarms went off……
They spent hours perfecting their project. Their hard work culminated in a win at the state competition, and an opportunity to go to Washington DC and compete in the National tournament. I was so excited! Not for Tyler and Bobbies accomplishment, but because our entire family was going up to DC to support them. This meant a whole week of hanging out with my best friends! The trip was awesome. At every cool place we visited, we would get out our camera and make a little video about our adventures in DC. Cannon Productions was born!…
One day one of the kittens, Puck, went out to the Open and got caught by Gar Face and his mother tries to help but she got caught also, leaving Pucks sister behind with Ranger tied up to his chain. They both were put in a bag…
Dragons, witches, princesses and knights. These are the imaginary friends in so many children's lives. For young adults, those fairy tale characters give way to darker characters and more realistic situations. However, what do they all have in common? They live in short stories Two stories that are interesting are "The Sniper" by Liam O'Flaherty and " A Sound of Thunder" Ray Bradbury. Both center around grow men have guns to kill something. The Sniper in "The Sniper" has part of the army trying to take out enemies. Eckels is trying to hunt a T.rex back in the past to win $10,000. While there are some obvious similarities, both authors approach these stories, specifically the characters, tone and point of view, in different ways.…
When the average person thinks of being a firefighter, they usually imagine cute Dalmatian dogs, loud sirens, heavy clothes, huge water hoses, poles to slide down, and giant ladders. Firefighting is a more complex job than people think because it has many characteristics that we do not think of. Aspects such as the various types of technology used, the different tactics you see on a day to day basis, the physical abilities one must be capable of, and the types of equipment used. It takes both physical and mental strength to get through a day of saving lives and fighting fires. This paper discusses the topics that examine why there is more to being a fireman than just loud sirens and huge…
I believe that Andy’s father’s solution to punish his boys was good decision, but also a bad one. Yes, it was a little harsh, but the boys were at fault for their immaturity, without considering how it could affect the Duvitches. “We held a brief whispering conversation; and then, egged on by him and quite willing on my own, I played a shameful trick on the Duvitches, the memory of which will come back to the end of my days to plague. Without considering further, I dropped the cake of soap into the tub of fish.” Because of this, their father was at outrage. When the Duvitches came to the town, they were known as the poor of the prosperous neighbourhood. They weren’t treated the same as everyone else, neither was included. “But the Duvitches were marked people. They were the one struggling family in a prosperous community-- and poverty, amid prosperity, is often embarrassing and irritating to the prosperous.…
Courageous and full of determination, Jake Garson in one of the short stories I’m Still Here, written by Veronica Ross, shows the set of characteristics that many Canadians regard as expressing their unique place and role in the world. He tried to fight and stand up for his own rights against the government through his act of bravery. By doing this, he had influenced many people in his hometown that faced the same situation as Jake; however, they did not show the same kind of courage that Jake showed. Readers who like to reevaluate and rethink what they are reading are recommended to read short stories such as I’m Still Here. It is one of the stories that teach us the moral lessons of standing up for yourself without anger or violence and to have a positive attitude at all times. This is one of the effects it had made to the short story. Some other effects also include a slow beginning introduction with an unpredictable ending. The author also does an excellent job of capturing the reader’s interest through plots twists, characters, theme, symbolism and much more, which made an effective short story. Although the use of vulgar language had made an unattractive impression, it showed the characteristics and emotions of the character inside the story, which made it more alive for the readers to read. Kezia, the main character from the short story The Wedding Gift, written by Thomas Raddall had a similar situation like Jake. Both of the short stories teaches us the moral lessons of standing up for yourself.…
