Hercules was blocked by a taller man and and when the man moved all eyes saw a small boy. He slowly started to move his bright orange hair out of his freckled face so his dark brown eyes could see. Skinny enough to have his bones seen through his skin. Maddie laughed at the fact that his name was the name of the strongest god.

“This young, handsome, man is my first born son named Forest” The king of the 3rd kingdom declared with a very straightforward voice. Everyone cheered in Forest’s excellents. Admitting that Maddie did not like the king’s ignorance, Forest was very handsome. He was tall, about 6’3, and his eyes sparkled under the light of the crystal chandeliers. His brown hair did not block his pale, confident, face . He was very serious and it appeared that had no feelings.

“Now let's introduce my daughter, Maddie.” The crowed roared in excitement! Maddie was tall, 5’8, and was a good type of skinny. Her black hair draped all the way down to her waist, she had bright blue eyes that sparkled under any light and she had the perfect amount of freckles. I never used to write. In fact, I didn’t much like it. Little did I know that writing would become obsolete and a physiological requirement for the well being of my life. From an early age on all I did was read. I grew up in an isolated environment where books were my escape, and escape was necessary from the hardships of home. I remember being a young seven-year-old boy wearing a pillowcase around my neck fastened with a pen. I was eating animal crackers at the time, and my step dad was calling out for me. I stood up from my crouched position and raised my hand as I learned from pre-school, and said, “ I’m here daddy.” At that moment my step father grabbed me by the cape harshly compressing my trachea purposefully, shaking me back and forth with his hands around my neck as I began to choke on the appetizing cracker animal crumbs within the back of my throat. I didn’t understand at the time what was really going on. My mother came out of the room and my dad acted as if nothing happened and told me to…

“Taryn, go put rocks in your dad’s shoes.” I recall only briefly the words of one of my dad’s coworkers encouraging me to play a joke on my dad. Being that I was only a little girl at the time I only remember this vaguely. Looking back, I loved rocks, bugs, leaves, mud, dirt, worms, anything and everything Mother Nature had to offer. I had a connection with the outdoors and I still do today. Nature is my happy place.…
