The Keepers decide his punishment to be one day in the “slammer”. When he wakes up the following morning he hears Teresa speak to him in his mind. Although he can not seem to talk back to her, he listens to what she says. After eating breakfast, he goes to the Slammer to serve his day as punishment. During lunch time Chuck brings him something to eat while talking to him. During this conversation Thomas makes a promise to Chuck. He promised that he would get Chuck home to his family. Once Thomas' day of punishment is over he goes on a run into the Maze with Minho. Minho teaches him the ways of the Runners. While so much is going on Thomas finds that their sun has disappeared. On top of that, the Doors neglected to close that night and Teresa awakes from her "coma". The Gladers stay mostly in the Homestead overnight while Grievers enter the…
After what felt like hours the tortured groan of the heavy iron door announced the arrival of an unknown guest. As the man walked in the room he turned and smiled at us causing me to scoff within Alice’s mind; “I hear that you’ve been hearing voices” the man asked in a sickly sweet tone. “Kill him” i sneer in the most sinister way and with a slight nod of the head my corrupted little puppet jumped at him tearing at the flesh of his meaty neck with her sharp little teeth causing him to stumble to the ground as he sputtered violently on the crimson liquid that spilt down his convulsing body. Alice then began playing with the man’s pulsing laceration as if a toddler were playing with their food while giggling manically. Only to be halted by a pair of hands wrapping around our body and violently throwing us across the cell all I could hear were the grotesque cracks as each bone broke and Alice’s sweet screams of pain as she is kicked across the room until she was nothing but a whimpering heap in the corner. “Die” the tall man screamed as he picked Alice up by the legs and slammed us against the cold walls of the cell with a sickening crack causing one final screech of pain from Alice to ricochet through the vile halls of the prison as she slumped to the ground with black oozing from her terrified eyes and her mouth that was left…
The travelers and Grendel set out that hour to find a meadhall to loot. They could not raid Herot again, lest they be caught. They found their meadhall in the next town over, and swept in and swiftly took all of the gold and precious metals. Grendel distracted the people in the hall by smashing tables, roaring curses and throwing casks of wine on the floor, while Hagelin, Hjalmarsson, and Rask collected the gold. They repeated this pattern for eighty seven days, every night taking their loot back to Grendel’s cave for safekeeping.…
Through one of the most testing times of human history, a young and timid girl in Anna Frith responds by stepping up and growing strong. She had to face tasks, no ordinary women would be capable of, such as; laying her husbands body out for burial and dealing with the mangled remains of her father. And not to mention the countless amount of ‘death beads’ she attended. Further more we learn early learn of Anna’s fear of delivering babies and midwifing due to her mother due to a four-day labor. During this labor, a barber surgeon was called in and used a thatcher’s hook to pull the remains from Anna’s mother. With Anna’s father, Josiah, too…
According to Hannah Robinson, (2016), “Colonial America depended on the natural environment to meet basic needs of the people and the colony.” The available natural resources provided, or in essence dictated what each region’s unique specialty would be or become. Specialized economies quickly emerged as a result of human and environmental interaction. Colonial America also had regional differences among culture or historical reason for establishment as a colony. The Southern Colonies were established as economic ventures and were seeking natural resources to provide material wealth to the mother country and themselves.…
Some people say he did it! Other say the evidence tells a different story. Books have set forth theories of the murders and experts have sounded off with their opinions of the case. And multiple appeals have been made to find the true justice. No matter what side of the truth you fall on, there is no doubt that the other side has some validity to its case.…
Janie and Reeve decided to skip school and go on a two hour trip from Conneticut to New Jersey where Jaine's biological parents live. Janie studied the map of New Jersey while Reeve was driving. When Janie told him all about how she thought she was kiddnapped and how her parents are actually her grandparents, Reeve didn't believe it. They got off the New Jersey Turnpike and stopped by a Mobil station which had a phone booth. She got in the phone booth and hoped that the phone book wasn't there, but it was. She looked through it until she found the last name Spring, and there was only one listing and it read: Spring, Johnathan Avery... 114 Highview Avenue. Once Reeve and Janie got near their house they stayed in the car and saw a yellow school…
"for safety is not a gadget but a state of mind" and so is hope. When you are facing obstacles all you think of is finding a solution no matter what . That was the case when the Joad family had no other way but to find a better place to live in.They decided to leave everything behind and go to California. The place that many families decided to go to believing they can find a good life waiting for them. Kind of similar to Christopher MCcandless's story except his parent's mistreatment is the reason behind his pilgrimage. He decided to move to a far place where he can find safety and hope and star a new life.My family's story could also relate to Christopher's but instead of family issues we had society and environment issues. We did not live in peace and all we wanted is to find a better place.…

Indiana almost suffers the same faith, but Henry reminds Indiana that men are not worthy of such power. Upon Indiana leaving the grail temple, Sallah, Marcus, Henry, and Indiana set off on horseback into the…
Sunburns, ice cream, and family gatherings It's Memorial Day weekend, and room to walk freely on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas is scarce. Makenzie and her family are searching for the line to buy boat ride tickets so they can tour the locale. The queue was too long for them to manage Rather than fighting the size of the line, Makenzie and her family ended up going to "I Scream U Scream" for ice cream. Once the boat ride ticket line dwindled down to a manageable size, Makenzie went to stand in a vacant spot so they could get tickets. While standing in the warm May heat, she spotted her good friend from high school, Ryan, dangling a fishing pole into the river. Because it had been a few years since she'd seen him, she made her way over…

Unfortunately his wife Martha Corey was accused for witchcraft by reading books. Giles Corey tried to safe his wife but he was arrested in a lawsuit against Putnam. The Judge tried to break him in many ways but he refused to name anyone. He was then tortured with a large rock on top of his chest until death but still not a name came out of his mouth except two words “more weight”. With no stain in the heart, Giles Corey and others who did not name other people to die in their place were like the pure steel that won’t melt under high temperature of the…

In “The Millers Tale” Alison is the main character. She is only eighteen years old and marries a much older man named John who is a carpenter. Alison is a free spirited and beautiful young lady but she lacks morals. For example she cheats on her husband which proves my point. Her husband was very protective over her. She was young and beautiful and he didn’t want to lose her. He tried to keep her on a short leash.…
Within the grand residence of Stoke Moran, the home of the Stoner/Roylott family, it is important to note that there is a relevant history of captivity. Helen and her sister lived a hard life growing up; after losing their mother they were fundamentally forced to run the household largely by themselves as no servants would stay with them (Doyle 156). This evil stepparent and hardworking type of life bears great resemblance to the classic fairy tale of “Cinderella.” And just like Cinderella these girls need someone to save them from their lives of captivity and their evil step-father. There are various cases within the story that validate this theme of captivity, especially after the death of Helen’s sister Julia. When Helen is first described by Watson as she sits in the living room her facial expression is said to be like that of a hunted animal (Doyle 153). This is…
