Short Summary Of Antigone

Antigone the play is based on a horrific battle between two brothers, who were fighting over the reign of the kingdom Thebes. Both were killed during the battle, but only one brother was given a proper burial and the other was left to lay in the open for wild dogs and vultures to eat. This is when turmoil begins between a family. Antigone was the sister of the two brothers, Eteocles and Polyneices, and also had a sister Ismene. Antigone is suffering from the loss of her brothers. Her uncle Creon took over the reign and was now in charge. Antigone believed that her brother Polyneices deserved a proper burial, as well. Creon has sworn that no one should bury him. Antigone is determined and doesn’t care if in the end her punishment is death.
Little by little, Antigone would visit the body when the guards weren't there. She covered the body gradually over time, and no one had noticed. Until one morning someone had told Creon what had happened, everything started to uproar from that point on.. He was determined to punish whoever had committed this criminal act. All the citizens of the kingdom knew that he wouldn’t know what he should do. If he doesn’t follow through with punishing Antigone, everyone in his kingdom will think there’s no consequences to any crime committed.
Antigone says to Creon, “The guards would agree with me, if you weren’t in charge of them.” She didn’t care what Creon thought. She wanted to let Creon know that she did what was right. Antigone was fearless of what was to come, and she was brave and a determined young women. She knew she was right, and she wasn’t arguing with Creon as much as the others. She knew if Creon continued through with the punishment of death, at least she would be at peace in the
