This essay will ask “Should abortion be illegal?”. Abortion is a specific topic. Many are for the topic, however just as many are against it. Abortion is a well debated topic and many religions view it as a sin. Pro-Choice and Pro-Life groups both want to give people the fair rights they deserve. Both groups have good reasons to believe why either the mother 's rights or the unborn child 's rights are more important. I will show these reasons and give my own opinion on whether I think abortion should be legal or illegal.
People who are against abortion are known as Pro-Life groups. They include such groups are CURA and SPUC. These groups recognise the value of all human life, including the unborn child. These groups try to provide as much support as they can for mothers before and after the birth of the child. They will say that abortion is wrong and that it kills innocent and defenceless people. They say that doctors that perform this operation are murderers and that they should be jailed.
People who support abortion are often labelled Pro-Choice groups. Pro-Choice groups believe that it is the right of any woman to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes. Groups which are Pro-Choice believe that abortion should be made legal and be offered to all women. They believe that a woman should have the right to terminate her pregnancy if she wishes, that the embryo is just a cluster of cells which is not a person but only has the potential to be a human being. This argument is based on the belief that a woman has absolute right over her own body.
Religions are a big part of the opposition to abortion. The Hindu religion views abortion as a great crime. The reason for this is that the classical Hindu scriptures are strongly opposed to it. They say that abortion is the same as killing a Hindu priest. Abortion is referred to as “garha-batta” which means “womb killing” and doctors who preform the operation are considered to be the
