Yes, Animal Farm should be studied in school. Animal Farm teaches about the Russian Revolution in an allegory, and shows how being uneducated can make you easily persuadable. It does this by the use of Animals to replace the Russian government, people, and leaders. Such as Napoleon who is symbolizing Vladimir Lenin and Snowball who represents Trotski. Throughout the book most of the animals are uneducated and are not very smart, and if you are not educated you can be easily convinced such as the sheep. Napoleon had taught them easy and simple cheers such as “Four legs good, Two legs bad”. But at the end of the book when the pigs start walking on two legs he easily gets them to change their slogan to “Two legs good, four legs bad.” In the book “Animal Farm” the sheep resembled the common Russian people. During the Russian Revolution these were the people that were easily persuaded by the government and their leaders.
The book Animal Farm is a book that retells history just in a story, and if people do not study history and the past then history could be repeated which would be a bad thing, in this scenario. “Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it”. Says George Santayana a philosopher, essayist, poet and novelist. What this quote means is that if people do not study history they will repeat it. An example of this would be when Napoleon Bonaparte attacked Russia and lost due to the cold weather that his soldiers were not prepared for. Years later Hitler did the same thing, and lost for the same reason his soldiers were not fit to fight during the cold winters.
