Going back and forth to your locker can get really annoying just to get supplies. But, if students are able to take our backpacks to every class students would never have to worry about going to lockers until the end of the day. This issue is important because a student can get behind or not know what to do for needing to go to their locker, and they might even be late to class.Students taking their backpacks to classes can be easier on the students and teacher because teachers don't have to worry about writing so many passes, students can carry everything to the class and not go to their locker all the time, and there is a chance that students will not be late to their classes. In school the policy backpacks have to be in your locker at all should be changed for variety of reasons. One reason that the policy should …show more content…
be changed is because students would not have to go back and forth to their locker. One student says ¨Currently, students have to carry every single notebook, binder, and folder to all eight classes, or make several trips to their locker throughout the school day¨(James 2 ). This piece of evidence shows how other students think that it is also annoying to steady have to go back and forth to their locker which can get annoying.Another piece of evidence that the student gives is ¨the time it takes to stop at your locker makes it impossible for students to get to class on time.¨(James 3). This piece of evidence also shows how going back and forth to their locker can cause them to be late to class.
Secondly teachers would not have to write so many passes to different students. A piece of evidence that supports this statement is ¨Many junior high and senior high schools are large and spread out, so students don't always have time to return to their lockers before each class.¨(Tucker 4). This evidence provides good reasoning of how students could be late to class. For example, if someone's class was all the way down the hall and there class was on the other side of the school, they will not even have enough time to stop at their locker and if they do they might be late to class.Another piece of evidence that the author gives is ¨For example, a student might need to carry multiple textbooks, a stack of notebooks and a bundle of art supplies to several classes before returning to her locker¨(Tucker 4). This piece of evidence shows how a student can go to every class faithfully without needing to go to their locker for a thing, so teachers wouldn't have to write locker passes as much.
Lastly, the reason that backpacks should be allowed in school is because Students would not have to carry so much stuff around at one time when they can have their backpacks with them.
A piece of evidence that supports this claim is ¨Because students may have as many as eight or nine classes throughout their school day, it does not make sense for them to keep returning to their lockers to search for the books for their upcoming classes¨(Dale 3).This is important because when you are a student and you have so many notebooks and can be heavy so you put them in your locker, but if you carry your backpack it can be way easier to carry everything you need. Another piece of evidence that this author states is ¨Having a backpack allows students to store materials for three or four classes at once, allowing them to stop by their lockers before school, at lunch or mid-day, and at the end of the day, keeping them productive and preventing them from wasting time¨(Dale 3). This evidence is important because if students do have to go to your locker it would not be after every period it would only be a couple a times a
day.
It can be thought that wearing backpacks can be a bad health for a student .Evidence to support this statement that the authors uses ¨The health effects of using backpacks can be serious and long-lasting. A heavy backpack can put pressure on a student's back and spine, affecting his muscles, posture and skeletal health¨(Dale 5). But what this article falls to consider is that the students could add things to their backpack that gives them support. In this article the author states ¨By purchasing backpacks with padded shoulder straps and ergonomic construction, students can avoid these problems¨(Dale 5).This shows that students would not have to worry about being late to class or wouldn't have to worry about their shoulders hurting.
In conclusion,The importance of my issue is that if students are able to take their backpacks in the school would make life so much easier during the school day for the students and the teacher. This topic is helpful to the students due to going back and forth to their locker, and it is important to their teachers due to writing so many passes. Also, I think that the future topic of this is that they will eventually allow students to use backpacks in the classroom.
