Should Cell Phones Be Allowed in School? Would you, an average middle school student want to be sitting in a classroom for 45 minutes and listening to a teacher drone on about some topic you barely understand? Or would you rather play around on some Smartphone app about the same thing and get the same amount of education? If I were you, I would pick option two. First of all, it’s more fun. Many schools all around the world are starting to allow students to bring their cellphones or smartphones into the classroom to do many things. Others are just stuck on not allowing any electronics in school. I think cellphones and other electronics SHOULD be allowed in schools. There can be many uses for cellphones in school. One reason is that it’s a tool for fun education, and students really enjoy it. Andrew Tuomey, an astronomy teacher at Great Neck South High School once said, “The students love using their phones....If the kids like to do something and you can make it educational, I am all for it." One way to make it “fun” education is to use an interactive game app on a Smartphone. If someone still doesn’t understand, they can look up the topic on the Safari app that most Smartphones have, and get some background information since some teachers are not as good at explaining things to students as some tools found only on these new electronical devices. Another reason that Smartphones should be allowed in school is because of the media applications on the device. Camera and its video feature can be used to record a lecture or a speech instead of taking notes. Recording the lecture and/or speech can be more helpful because it saves time and energy. Also, this way you can spend more time listening to the lecture/speech instead of trying to write down every little piece of information you hear. A third reason on why cell phones and smart phones should be allowed in school is that it’s convenient. A student at West Potomac High School in Alexandria, Va., says, “My
