Why Children Should be Paid for Chores
Household chores have been on the to-do list for most children at one time or another; maybe they had to vacuum the house, feed the pets, or babysit a younger sibling. Some parents make the decision to pay their children for doing chores to teach that hard work literally pays off, while others believe that chores are required and children do not deserve a prize for doing what they are expected. Every Saturday growing up was and still is “chore day” in the Jones house and it comes early and lasts for hours. My parents believe in making us work for the things we want as well as showing them we appreciate what they do for us by doing chores. It is because of this, that I believe I have learned to work hard in what I am doing and to be thankful for the things that have been given to me.
