Should Cigarettes Should Be Banned On The Sale Of Smoking?

Cigarettes are seen as an instrument to calm the nerves as countless say that after they take in a cigarette it reduces their stress. However, over the years people have begun to notice the negative effects that smoking can have on both the active and passive smoker. In this essay I will be discussing whether a ban should be placed on the sale of cigarettes. Firstly, the negative effect that smoking can have on people that don’t smoke, especially children will be discussed. Secondly, how being distracted by a cigarette may be the cause of an accident will be explained. And thirdly, how hazardous and deadly smoking can be to one’s health will be fully explored.
Over the years a person is likely to suffer from lung cancer and heart disease due to long term smoking (Cancer.org, 2016) and (Tobacco Free Florida, 2016). In addition, second hand smokers, especially children, are most affected by active smokers. Children are inclined to suffer making them prone to sicknesses, namely asthma that will affect their breathing, which may further lead to chest pains (Pattemore, 2013). In addition, in babies, this may lead to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or the increased risk of developing cancer in their adult stage of life.
Similarly to not driving with a cell phone as a person may become distracted, cigarettes have a similar, yet equally dangerous outcome as texting and driving. According to (injuries et al., 2016) “any activity that can grab a driver’s attention and distract them from driving can pose a safety threat to the driver and those around” the driver may lose focus when they are trying to light a cigarette. Lighting a cigarette is not a one step process; firstly the person must find the packet of cigarettes, find the lighter, take the cigarette out of the pack, light it, and only then begin to smoke. Most people do this process while driving and as a result they become distracted thus possibly leading to an
