To begin with, cursive actually helps you with your body.
The first part of your body that cursive helps is your brain. Research shows writing out in cursive helps your brain cells function. Cursive can also help with focus, cursive writing can actually promote focus, and also, writing things out by hand helps build muscles for your hands.
Next, cursive can help with school purposes. When you get older in middle or high school you have to read documents. Most documents from the olden days are hand written in cursive, like, the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson once penned out our country’s most famous documents ever, the Declaration of Independence. Or what if you want to read Christopher Columbus’s adventure in the Americas. He wrote that in hand written journal in cursive. Research also shows handwritten print connects to better reading skills. Cursive is very important to a lot of things. Lastly, how about life skills? Life skills such as a simple signature. A simple signature helps when you pay with a credit or debit card. What if you want to research old relatives or maybe find a family tree? I am pretty sure some of the information you are going to find are written in cursive. Or if you are in middle or high school, or even college you might want to know how to read cursive because your teachers might be writing in cursive. If you want to work at certain jobs, that would be a shame if you couldn’t work there just because you do not know how to read or write in cursive. In conclusion, I strongly agree that cursive should still be taught in schools today. Remember, you need cursive for helping your body, for school purposes, and lastly, for life skills. Therefore, some teachers are still making time to teach children cursive writing, you should try to help by keeping cursive writing in schools. I hope now after reading this you will think cursive writing is important.
