At least in the contractual world, pay is based on multiple factors; education, skills, along with experience, are the top reasons for pay difference. My company paid employees the same pay in their position; consequently, employees that possessed certain skills, moreover, held security clearances would receive a slight difference in pay.
The only company I have witnessed, where pay is available for all to view, was the Government. Whether you were in the military or Civil Service, anyone could view what their pay currently is, in addition to future pay with promotions.
I have never witnessed gender pay gaps in the areas I have worked in; by the same token, it exists in many areas of the work-force. Another study that interviewed 1,500 employment professionals found that “44” percent of respondents perceived women’s willingness to work for less money than men to be a ‘very’ ore ‘extremely’ important cause of the gender gap, that women often undervalue the economic worth of their skill sets. If employee’s additional outcomes are due to their greater in-puts, negative inequity will be perceived. On the other hand, a person will experience positive inequity when their outcome to input ratio is greater than that of a relevant coworker. (Kreitner, & Kinicki, 2013, p. 215). The thought alone, of employees of equal statute, making more than another is problematic and promotes inequality in the work
