Should Father’s Receive Paid Paternity Leave
In this day in age we find ourselves wondering if is feasible for men to get paid paternity leave, since women get paid maternity leave after they have their baby. You have to really think about this though, because not all companies pay women to take maternity leave. So why would we pay our men to take paternity leave when not all women get paid when they have no choice but to take off after having a baby. So I want you to ask yourself, “Should father’s get paid for paternity leave?” There are some good aspects to having the father take paternity leave. Say, companies did offer paid paternity leave to fathers. The father would then have a chance to bond with the baby and give the mother some time to heal and rest from having the baby. This can give the mother a chance to go back to work sooner if she makes more money than the father. The mother will not have to worry about having to find a child care so soon after she has the baby. The father can stay home and bond with the baby until it is a little bit older. Fathers can use this time to bond with their children while mothers rest and heal from having baby. The father will get to experience the joy of feeding, bathing, clothing, crying and soothing their children. It can give the mother time to her and the ability to take care of her personal needs. Not only that but gives fathers the chance to help around the house and put in their support. It helps when mothers are recovering or suffering from post partum depression. Sometimes taking care of a new born can be very overwhelming for them. Being able to take a break or even go out with friends, helps the mother not feel like she will never be able to do it anything again without the baby with her all the time. It shows that fathers are very aware of the hardship that comes along with raising a new born
