Should governments spend more money on improving roads and highways
Should governments spend more money on improving roads and highways, or should governments spend more money on improving public transportation (buses, trains, subways)? Why? Use specific reasons and details to develop your essay. A good government is believed to pay attention to their people’s needs. A lot of things can be done to improve their lives, one of which is the public transportation which is badly in need by all people. In my opinion, governments should spend more money on improving public transportation such as buses, trains, and subways. Firstly, buses or trains which are identical with a long queue and waiting, dirtiness, and for second-class people should be given a serious attention by improving the facilities and services. Public transportation having been enhanced, some benefits can, of course, be obtained. Then people are automatically willing to make use of buses or trains. Second of all, a better environment is likely to happen when people are more interested in using public transportation than private cars. As we know, carbon dioxide is one of the gases that can cause Green House problems leading to Global Warming. . So, if public transportation is preferable to people, cars on the road became fewer. This means reducing level of carbon dioxide in the world.
Lastly, accidents which frequently claim people‘s lives can be prevented when a number of car decreased. If traffic is less, road damage can at least be minimized, so allocated money for repairing roads can be saved as well. All in all, if a city has a good network of transportation, people don’t need to drive their own cars and road damage can be avoided. The Government will save their money so they can easily spend money to upgrade public transportation. A country with well-organised transport system is reflected in a good and responsible government.

Another way to address to issue is by increasing the number of our employees who take public transportation. Presently, 54% of our employees use public transportation. This number is surprisingly high. However, it could be higher. A company with the size of ours could have a lot of influence on the local public transportation. Therefore, we should negotiate for good prices for weekly passes and better routes to benefit our employees. Also, the company should cover the cost of the weekly passes. This has the potential of 100% of employees using public transportation. Currently 28% of our employees never use public transportation. Nevertheless, this could change very soon.…

For there to be an active economy, there has to be efficient transportation. So in every major city, public transportation is a must to keep up throughout the moving city because that is how people get around to keep the city thriving and that is how goods are transported to keep people happy and getting supplies around to keep building it to make it easier to get from one place to another. The infrastructure of a city is what makes it, in many ways, a good or bad place to live and work. It's the physical or structural part of the city. These things include its transportation systems (roads, bridges, highways, public transportation, sewage system, utility systems (gas, electricity, water treatment and delivery), and its buildings (schools, court houses, sports facilities, and its public and private housing developments). If a city's infrastructure is old and in decay, this makes these important systems unsafe, unattractive, or unreliable, and so that city is not such a great place to live anymore. Fewer people will want to move to such a place to live and work. Also, fewer businesses will want open offices and factories in a city with a deteriorating infrastructure, so there will be fewer jobs for the people who live…

Not only do people have to pay for high parking prices and fuel, but also the expense incurred when they take their car to the garage to have it repaired. Unlike private cars, public transport has reserved lanes in many cities; so long delays due to traffic congestion can be avoided by taking a bus or a taxi. As far as the environment is concerned, the use of public transport instead of private cars makes a difference. For example, if the people who use a bus were to use their own vehicles instead, this would definitely contribute to air pollution.…

Furthermore, it can increase the spaces in the city, because there are less cars parking. Taking buses and trains is able to keep the environment green,…

Just imagine which of the following two worlds you would prefer: Option one is that you are living in a place where the sky is grey and the river is yellow. Every day you have to breathe the air with many harmful fumes. Option two is that the environment you live is beautiful. There are many trees and flowers around the lake. You can listen to the birds singing in the sky and watch fish swimming in the lake. Wouldn't you feel more comfortable and more enjoyable if you choose option two? Nowadays, more and more people begin to realize that the waste fume from the car exert bad influence on the environment and thus take many actions to limit the number of cars, such as taking subway instead of driving a car. One of the reasons for the high rate of private car ownership is the poor quality and high cost of public transport. Public transport has recently been described by the chairperson of the transport portfolio committee in parliament as being in a state of crisis. Train users complain bitterly about overcrowding and security issues, whereas bus users complain about the absence of facilities at bus stops and the infrequency of services at off peak times. Minibus taxi commuters complain about accidents, the un-roadworthiness of vehicles, and the absence of facilities at taxi ranks.…

Further, good roads help people to travel easily to places where they can work and to develop their lands and industries. In Malaysia, for example, the improvement of roads has made it easy for skilled workers from the towns to work in remote villages. The people of the villages, on the other hand, have been able to learn much from the towns. As a result, there has been a lot of improvement in this country in all spheres of activity.…

This is a good reason for having a liable transportation system that is able to transfer every body from one place to another one. Some people think that governments should pay attention to this matter and spend more money to build more roads and highways. They prefer fast cars and a good route to ride their vehicles because they have to work or shop and there is not enough time for all of them. I believe, governments should have a general view about transportation and it means that there are some other issues that must be considered at the same time. If we spend more money on public transportation system, a lot of people can use it and they don't have to buy a car to pollute the environment and also we would not have so many car accidents that suffer a lot of families and are a waste of money, and time.…

To a large extent, I think the interests of the whole society should take priority over personal interests. The prime reason is, the development of the transport infrastructure is an issue related to all the citizens, and the transport infrastructure is belongs to the public, therefore, the interests of the whole society should be considered first. The society has the shared ownership, but not only considers and concerns one’s interest. Although the government should strike a balance between the interest of different social group, and pay attention to the minority, the government should not sacrifice the majority which would trigger riot and harm the social harmony. Therefore, the interest of the whole society is much important.…
