Pathways focuses on the at risk youth which is why they started the program YouthBuild. YouthBuild is a uniquely comprehensive, full-time, voluntary, community-based program that offers disadvantaged youth an immediately productive role rebuilding their communities. Students spend half their time attending basic education classes and half their time receiving job skills training in high-demand fields while building affordable housing in their community. Today’s youth is strongly influenced by other individuals in their specific environments. Whether the youth is interacting with classmates, teachers, friends, and family, interaction types demonstrated vary. The environment that a child is in strongly impacts the way they will intermingle with others around them, more specifically in the school setting.
