Should High School Students Have Too Much Homework

Limited Homework Students should only be given limited amounts of homework per day. Have you ever fallen asleep in school because you were up so late doing homework? I know I have before. Sometimes teachers will give enormous amounts of homework. There should be limited homework for multiple reasons. There should only be a limited amount of homework because too much homework can cause stress on some people. Also, students that get a lot of homework might have to stay up late because they either had work after school or an afterschool activity. Teachers do not realize that even though their class is important it is not the only class students have, we have five other classes to study for. The average percentage of stress for high school students is 32.7%. Students should only be given limited amounts of homework per day. Has a teacher ever given you too much homework? Too much homework can cause a lot of stress. Teachers might think that they are helping you, but when in reality they are not. When a person becomes stressed it will slowly affect them mentally. If a person is under too much stress they might have a tendency to be constantly overwhelmed; he might want to
take a break and relax, but he because he has too much on his mind he will not be able to. In the book The Catcher in the Rye, the main character was under too much stress and he liked to write to relieve stress. Stress will also change your behavior; it will cause some people to start binge eating, not sleeping and lead to bad habits; for example, nail biting, pacing, and twirling their hair. All of these bad habits are possible to come and will throw you off of your game and schoolwork. Stress affects everybody at one point, even straight “A” students. Nobody can handle an excessive amount of work, because you need to have balance between academics, exercise, and relaxation. Only eight percent of all high school students get enough sleep on an average school night. Students should only be given limited amounts of homework per day. A lot of students have stuff to do after school. Some kids play after school activities, some go to work. Most after school activities will last until about six o’clock. Seniors even work till nine or ten at night. Once they have finished a hard day at work they then have to come home and start their homework. Once their homework is done they then have to try and go to sleep and wake up at six in the morning for school. Also, students have lives outside of school, we want to hang out with our friends and have down time, not come home from seven hours of learning and do four or five hours of homework, we want to relax and hangout. All high school students take five major classes that give homework.

Teachers give a lot of homework, and when they give you hours of homework they sometimes forgot that their class is not the only class we have. Most students take five major classes that give homework; English, Spanish, history, math, and science. If in every class you had one hour of homework or studying to do that would take up five hours of your afternoon. Students do not want to come home from school and do homework; there is nothing we hate more than a lot of homework. Teachers cannot always keep up with their work so why are we supposed to. Most teachers will take weeks to grade a test or a quiz. There should only be allowed a certain number hours of homework per
day. Students should only be given limited amounts of homework per day. These are only a couple of the many reasons of why there should be a limited amount of homework. While some people might argue that homework is a good thing and that it helps enforce what was learned in school, but it does not help when you get an excessive amount. Kids will just start copying homework. I think I speak for most if not all students when I say there should only be a limited number of hours of homework per day.
