Though it is your choice, voting has been such a quandary to where people decide who can and cannot vote. Hundreds of years ago, when America was first established, the qualifications in order to vote were that you had to follow the dominant church, you had to be male, and white. Women, blacks, and non-Christians were discriminated against and did not have a voice. America did not give the people the equality they deserved. And during the 1800’s and the 1900’s, blacks and women had many reform movements in order to get where we are today. When voting becomes mandated, the uneducated, the media-prone, and the politically uninvolved are forced to vote. When people like these vote, that also disrupts the voting percentage, allowing it to sway towards the direction of a candidate who – in reality – is not fit for presidency. For example, Donald trump, whether you approve or disprove of the man, the truth of the matter is that businessmen can lead business, not countries. And in this generation, those who are voting for him are basing their opinions on what the media is portraying him to be with slogans like “trump for change”, and on his ruthless actions seen on media. Those who believe what the media posts are the ones who would be forced to vote. These are not intelligent nor worthy votes, their votes will only disrupt the voting polls and wrongly sway it towards one
