Robots Take Over Agricultural Jobs There is a lot of debate around the development of robots and AI machinery and this is especially a growing problem in the agriculture industry. The progression of robots has rocketed in the US since the 20th century. Robots in a way, been enhance jobs, specifically the agricultural jobs. Some say they make them better and more productive, and that may be true to an extent, but robots shouldn't be allowed to take over hard working people's whole jobs when they really need them. Although, the machines/ “robots” brought in such as tractors and bulldozers have enhanced the work of field work, they aren’t as efficient in some areas as humans are and they also cost more money to keep up than it is to pay a human worker. In the article Agriculture Robots Advantages and Disadvantages by Heba Soffar, Soffar states, “it costs a lot of money to make or buy the robots, they need maintenance to keep them running, the farmers lose their jobs, the robots can change the culture/the emotional appeal of the agriculture and energy issues are costly.” Soffar point is to bring to light all of the things robots take away rather than provide. In other words, bringing in more AI robots brings in more problems and takes out a lot of money. This is another reason why some parts of agriculture jobs will be safe.
