Should Schools Have Four Day School Weeks
The board of education are thinking about changing five day school weeks to four day school weeks. Which is a brilliant idea, because having four day school weeks will improve students attendance, for instance students who have doctor appointments they can go on Friday the day the students got off of school for the weekend, instead of having to leave in the middle of class. Another reason school should have four day school weeks is that it will save more money because when schools have a whole week, they have to use money to fill up the buses, which will be a bunch of money going down the drain, but with the four day school weeks they wouldn't have that problem. Changing the five day school week has been argued for and against due the controversy as to whether or not it would actually be beneficial to students and teachers. When approaching the idea, many people would like to believe that five day school weeks are the most efficient and productive way to educate our youth. What is often overlooked, however, is that it is causing students to dread school more than they already do, and lessen their willingness to be in or attentive at school. Not only this, but many teachers easily get behind on either grading or lesson planning, while the school could actually save money when switching to this schedule. By refreshing the way the school schedule has previously been, we can address the issue of exhausted students who don 't truly learn anything, teachers who are overwhelmed with work and the economic questions within America 's schools. Providing both students and teachers with a more equal week of break and school time by having Wednesdays off will make students more willing to attend school, give the teachers time to furnish their lesson plans and give the school a break in costs.…

If four day weeks were introduced to schools, the students and schools will both benefit. The schools will save a significant amount of money and students will excel academically and behavior will improve drastically. Whenever we have a student/teacher holiday, less students are absent and behave because they are looking forward to less days of the week. When students have less days to worry about, it will make them work harder so they can finish of the week sooner.…

Many people believe that the best way for students to be taught nowadays is through year-round schooling. This idea would break off from the traditional way of having nine months of school and three months of summer. Instead, the school would have a certain number of days, which is then followed by a long break. This would last year round and there would be no big summer break. The length of the school portions and break portions would be determined by the school; some more common calendar setups include but are not limited to periods consisting of thirty days of school followed by fifteen days of break, sixty days of school with twenty days of break, or ninety days off school and thirty days of break. In larger schools, they could use the…

Many schools in the United States are beginning to change their school calendar so their students attend class all year round. The changes still allow the students time off in the summer, but they do not have the three months of break most students in America receive traditionally. Instead, they get a break of a couple weeks in the summer, and the remainder of the time is divided up and put into other breaks throughout the year. All schools in America should switch to a year-round calendar to accommodate the different and higher level of learning needed to be successful in our changing world and society. The traditional school system was designed many years ago when our country was an agricultural nation. Therefore, the school calendar was developed having a long break in the summer so students could assist their family with cultivating crops and other aspects of farm life. The traditional school calendar was not a calendar for higher learning, and should be extended to meet the needs of modern day students. There are many explanations as to why the traditional school calendar should be changed.…
