Using drugs in sports should not be allowed because these drugs can cause physical and mental harm and other problems to the player. There should be drug testing during all seasons of the game and in every sport. Also these drugs can cause brain problems like psychiatric problems such as suffering from delusions and impaired judgement. And even with all the bad side effects doctors seem to still prescribe these medications. Although I don’t agree with using drugs in sports players have good reasons for using different types of steroids. Theses drugs allow players to compete at the highest levels all that matters is winning and succeeding in the competition. An example of where most players use these drugs is football the point of the game is to hurt the opponent so the team can win and please fans. Competition can be fair if the player is not strong like the other players this can make it seem like the competition is equal. In conclusion, these drugs should be illegal and not allowed with any sport and monthly drug test should be given to assure other players are safe and that the player is not on an drug. Even though these are harmful players can receive these drugs from doctors. And if these doctors are supplying these drugs they should be fined and punished. By doing this we can assure everyone’s safety while playing their favorite

With steroids, you are tricking your body. You are creating something that is not you, and that is why you are cheating. It is estimated that as many as six million Americans have used or currently use steroids. It is unbelievable that somebody could somehow live more easily and more pleasantly because of chemicals. It is fine if someone is using steroids to recover from an injury so they can get back to work and behave like an ordinary person, but God forbid they should use anymore steroids than necessary and become unusually strong. That would be morally wrong. There are several types of performance-enhancing drugs: anabolic steroids, stimulants, human growth hormone and supplements. The use of drugs to enhance performance in sports has occurred since the time of the original Olympic Games from 776 to 393 BC-2015.The origin of the word 'doping' is attributed to the Dutch word 'dope,' which is a viscous opium juice, the drug of choice of the ancient Greeks. For years there has been an ongoing argument about whether performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) should be legalised in professional sports. The use of performance-enhancing drugs, commonly known as doping, has been happening behind the scenes. You hear about the athletes in the first Olympic Games (776 B.C.) improving their fights and recovering quickly from fatigue and injuries during their battles by using hallucinogens and stimulants. In my opinion, PEDs should be legalised due…

The harms steroids can cause on the athlete are not the only concern when taking them. Steroids give athletes that boost in their performance which puts them above their competitors. This gives for an unfair advantage among the players. Since steroids work so well and create an unfair advantage, it breaks the social contract athletes agree to: “We are going to have a fair contest” (“ProCon.org”). Sports are about competition on equal footing, with respect for the opponent, and with respect for the rules of the game (“Why Steroids Have No Place in Sports”). Even if there were a safe substance for enhancing performance, if it wasn’t equally available to everyone it would still be considered cheating.…

It is estimated that around forty-two percent of professional athletes use steroids. Any athlete who uses steroids goes against the “spirit of sport”, which is based on honesty, fair play, ethics, health, the respect for game rules and the respect for yourself and other participants. Steroid use shows bad sportsmanship and lack of respect, and is fundamentally a contrary to the “spirit of sport”. Steroid use then makes for tainted glory, and questions of whether the win or trophy was actually deserved are quick to…

Athletes, student-athletes, and average joes play sports for the competition, fun, and satisfaction of doing well. This satisfaction of doing well the athletes feel tend to overpower their minds and make them want to become even better. This results in, the usage and over usage of HGH. Human growth hormones help make the athlete stronger, hence, the performance enhancement. These drugs have serious side effects that are hard to get rid of, such as, liver failure, neurological issues, and HIV. The athletes who have knowledge on what can potentially happen to them just flies right over their head, and they continue to cheat at the sports they get paid to play. Because taking HGH is considered cheating there are punishments if they are caught. Mr. Hernandez, a teacher and former professional bodybuilder, said the punishment for a first offense was a one year suspension. If it happened a second time, the bodybuilder was banned from competition. Some sports do ban the players, but most do not.…

Many athletes fail to take their time when making the decision whether to use drugs to their advantage. Unfortunately, athletes may use drugs for therapeutic indications, recreational or social reasons, as muscular aids, or to mask the presence of other drugs during drug testing. However, the safety of an athlete's health is being neglected. Drug use has led to an increased number of deaths, and suspensions of athletes. If failing to recognize drug use in professional athletics continues, all athletes will have to choose whether to compete at a world-class level and take drugs, or compete at a club level and be clean. In sports, athletes, coaches and trainers will try their best to find a way to reach the top level. They not only search for a way to enhance performance, but most of them have aspiring Olympians to train. Athletes also are becoming more venturesome about mixing different types of drug (Marie, 2014). Sports…

A young basketball player sees one of his star professional role models all buff and big. When asked how he got in such shape the professional athlete only had one word to say “STEROIDS”. Should steroids be banned from sports? My answer to this question without doubt is yes. Why? I have three good reasons why. 1) Athletes are encouraging teenagers to use them; 2) it is unfair to the players of the past who have records and statistics to be overshadowed by players who have cheated their way by using the drug, and 3) it is unfair to the player that does not use them, they will not be able to compete a t the same level and will therefore fall behind.…
